Distiler Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 (edited) First, I'm a completely nub editing missions XD Now, I'm trying to make a "living" airfield, with airplanes taking off and landing, vehicles moving here and there and that kind of stuff. Just for the "woah" factor you know. I might use it as a novice training mission: learn to start up, take off, land, etc with a nice environment added. So, how do I make airplanes to touch and go? maybe it's not even possible... BTW, if anybody already did that "living"airfield please point me! It might get me a month just to set up a couple of airplanes XD If you have any idea how to do a "living airfield", even if touch & go cannot be done, please tell me!! :) Edited March 20, 2009 by Distiler AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Dusty Rhodes Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Be careful how much you populate an airfield. The player will take a big hit in FPS with too much put at an airfield. uhoh7 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 no touch and go, but if you set a few to "takeoff from parking" one to "take off from runway" and have one or two spawn in the air with one landing waypoint, then put some vehicles driving near your chopper, maybe some soldiers walking about, you will have it. In your testing you can check FPS, that stuff alone won't bother a strong system. It's funny what bothers FPS, I gained some in one mission just by taking out the pretty comm and ammo bunkers--they seem to eat some or did in that mission. Ulrich Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Pay attention to training tracks missions. They are made to suit almost every PC.
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 (edited) Take the airfield with many taxi ways. I met situations many times when ai blocked each other while taxi. Immersion make ground vehicles too. Their way can be exacly set with time and speed. You won't do that with aircarfts so don't make them many. Bring a life on ground. Edited March 21, 2009 by Poko24
JG14_Smil Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 give some AI the takeoff command without any other WPs and they will go around the pattern and land, then taxi back to their revets. Give some others a single WP and vary the distance they fly before returning to land.
