Gideon312 Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Hi everyone, I recently upgraded to the AMD 9 7950X3D CPU, hoping for an enhanced VR experience in DCS. Unfortunately, I’ve been facing issues with stuttering, and my FPS consistently stays below 60, showing CPU-bound indicators (yellow/red). It’s been two weeks, and despite trying various tips and tricks from the forums related to the latest updates and VR issues, I haven’t been able to resolve the issue. I’m reaching out to the community to see if anyone else has the same CPU and has successfully managed to get DCS running smoothly in VR. If you have any insights or suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate your help. I'm encountering a perplexing issue with my VR setup, specifically in DCS (MT). Despite having a robust CPU, I find myself CPU bound (yellow/red) even when running the game at fairly low settings in VR. I only achieve around 50-60 FPS with severe stutters. Interestingly, in non-VR mode, I can fly with maximum settings and am GPU bound, achieving a smooth 150+ FPS. I'm using an Nvidia Control Panel with default settings. WMR on 60Hz. OpenXR tools for WMR are set at 100%, and motion reprojection is turned off. OpenXR toolkit disabled. DCS MT as administrator. SMT disabled in BIOS Game mode OFF, GPU hardware scheduling ON. Xbox game bar —> DCS ticked and recognized as game. Power plan balanced. There is some setting I’m probably missing. Any insights or suggestions to optimize my VR performance would be greatly appreciated! My specs are: - Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER motherboard - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor - 64GB DDR5 (6400) RAM - Geforce RTX3080ti - HP Reverb G2 Thanks in advance. System: Win11 Pro, X870Pro RS Wifi 7 AM5, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, Corsair MP400 SSD (1TB for WIN), Corsair MP700 PRO (2TB for DCS), VR PIMAX Crystal.
LucShep Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 (edited) I don't have a Ryzen 7950X3D, but its issues are well known in the HW community. You may be already very familiar with the following but, in anycase... The AMD 7950X3D is a dual chiplet design CPU. It gets more complicated because it has 16 cores, but only 8 of them make use of the 3D V-Cache. IIRC, CCD 1 (chiplet one) is the CCD with the 3D V-Cache, so make sure that the game is only worked on (CPU affinity) by those 8 cores with 3D V-cache, and not use the CCD 2 (chiplet 2) with games. I presume that would mean creating the affinity to logical core 0-15 with the 3D V-Cache (and 16-31 without). Something like Process Lasso may be the better way to create settings to automatize affinities, very usefull with a 7950X3D.
