Small project organization DCS-BIOS and FreeJoy

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi!

I'm preparing to put together my very first simpit project. Any recommendations with regard to project organization?

Goals:

1. Small but DCS-BIOS-ready

F-5E left console + weapons panel + fuel control panel

2. Low-cost. I don't mind extra soldering.

3. Organised into 4 modules at the beginning. The entire left console as one module.

4. Preference: buttons on flight controls managed by FreeJoy

After reading some more I guess my question should be "How to use shift registers with DCS-BIOS?" Interestingly "shift register" is nowehre to be found in DCS-BIOS documentation. Neither is the information on discontinuation of the project and the new-new fork https://github.com/DCS-Skunkworks/dcs-bios

The Fork isn't "new, new" it's at least a few years old, and the Skunkworks name is a recent change.  It used to be called "Flightpanels Fork".  The name was changed because it had diversified from just creating an interface for Saitek Flight Panels to cover Stream Decks, Arduinos, and more recently, there's some work going on WRT WiFi-connected ESP32s.

Now would you look at that! 🙂

Nope, this isn't it. To be honest I don't understand what this is which tells me it's not THE solution I'm looking for.
