Hey Guys,

since managed to get Helios working smoothly, I’d like to use it for multiple displays. I’m currently planning to have quite a few displays for gauges in a viper pit, more than my gpu can cater for. I have one hdmi and dp port on my mobo. My gpu has 2 hdmi ports and 3 dp ports (4080). I do have two 4-hdmi-to-usb converters. The startech one only allows three of the 4 hdmi ports to be used. The jScreate converter I haven’t figured out yet. Earlier it allowed 3 of the 4 ports. Yesterday when I tried 2 ports none of the connected displays worked, but removing one allowed the other to work.
added complication is that two of my displays CV (for rwr and ehsi) only work when connected to the gpu.

Some more info I heard about is that adding extra GPU’s isn’t always possible. I read you need a special mobo to use multiple GPU’s effectively.

so I guess my question is how to use multiple displays effectively. The only thing I can think of is external GPU’s, but the housings for those are quite expensive.

When adding another GPU for more displays you don't need any motherboard support - you aren't going to be having them in SLI/NVlink. That disables the ports on the second one so it's not what you want. This also means that your second GPU doesn't need to match.

Also, check how many displays your GPU supports, it's not uncommon for them to have more ports than they can use.

USB display adaptors are useful. Be aware that they impose a non-trivial CPU overhead and they often don't like being connected to a USB hub.
