Husko Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I might be re-installing windows on my machine. I do this often, probably once a year. Anything Important I need to be aware of other than just the key given to me from my online puchase?
Acedy Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 You should deactivate BS prior to reinstalling your OS, in order to save your current activation. Please read the quick start manual for more information on how to do that. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***
Madman777 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Hi - I've done a re-install twice in the last two months - both times I was able to install and play Blackshark without any activation :-) i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
Acedy Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Madman, you probably mean that you just reinstalled BS, but not Windows, right? If you reinstall windows you will have to reactivate BS. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***

WynnTTr Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 As Acedy says - check your documentation!!! And use your deactivations, as you get 10 of them and only 8 activations. Read the instructions carefully and take note of your re-activation code that you have to add on.
Brach Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Erm, now you guys have got me worried. I did reinstall Windows completely due to a new DVD player I installed (I always do this with a hardware change). I however did not deactive DCS and just reinstalled it on the new Windows with the key that was provided through mail with the download version of the game. Does this mean that I used up one of my activations? I never got any confirmation of this while installing or through mail after activation though. I'm really confused now. :noexpression:
Sid6dot7 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 (edited) @Husko If you don't change your hardware and only want to change/reinstall your operating system, you can Blackshark leave activated. You won't lose activations, when nothing is changed on hardware, rather you don't exceed the 12 points needed for an activation (counting points). Simply save following registry key to a .reg file: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Black Shark After you reinstalled your os and blackshark, simply doubleclick that .reg file and readd the key to your registry. Worked for me so far. Madman777 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Madman, you probably mean that you just reinstalled BS, but not Windows, right? If you reinstall windows you will have to reactivate BS. Actually no - I had to wipe my hard drive clean from a virus - I re-installed windows and Blackshark - The installer never asked me for a key. I've done this twice now - both times I've never had to use my key. i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
