ADF homing / direction finding

I made a .miz file that helps me practice adf homing with the R-828 FM radio and the R-852 emergency beacon receiver.  I also use ARK-15 to direction find the airbase NDBs.  The thing is, everthing works until I edit the .miz file somemore, like if I move a unit that has a set frequency and transmission it will break.  My plan now is to plan everything out, create the mission and save it once and be done and hopefully it will work everytime I run it.  Does anyone else experience this phenomena with Mission Editor?

it just seems less dumb

So I tried some radio transmission homing on R-828, it worked to nav me to a truck ground unit i placed in ME, but the R-852 homing on channel 1 didn't work, and my ARK-15 homing to outer NDB 625 KHz and inner NDB 303 KHz at Krasnodar- Center didn't work either.  Is needle 1 on the HSI supposed to indicate beacon direction for ARK-15, and needle 2 supposed to indicate R-828 & R-852 direction finding?

   On the R-863 radio there is an ADF switch, It would be nice if it could track a VOR like 115.800 MHz at Kras-Pash.

I think there are problems with ADF homing right now, but for RMI-2 HSI, it will show ADF from ARK-U2 if you select the “ZK” on the bottom right of the HSI gauge. The “2” needle will then snap from default position of bearing 000 to ADF homing from ARK-U2 if the beacon can be seen

according to Chuck's guide and my little test, the HSI switch must actually be to the right position for ARK-U2 and left position (ZK) for ARK-15.

Yes that’s what I meant, it toggles which ARK is displayed.

You likely won’t be able to get ADF from the R-863 or have ED add it, it seems it was added because of common equipment with other aircraft and is non functional in reality

Correct and it works for CSR 852 radio and R-828.

Remember also about source selector:

and radio selector (to hear a signal):

Not sure if this is the issue with you, but while trying to set a couple vehicles transmitting VHF AM for a "recover stolen cargo/spacecraft" mission for the Hind using the R-852 Radio Receiver + ARK-U2 Direction finder I notice that;

  • if you are a RED Coalition Hind;
    • if the vehicles transmitting are BLUE, you can get a signal on ARK-U2 (and the needle works) but no sound (even with the ARK-U2 switch on COMMS and the radio suite rotary knob on ARK).
    • if the transmitting vehicles are also RED, you get the signal and the sound (with the ARK-U2 switch on COMMS and the radio suite rotary knob on ARK).

..."recover stolen cargo/spacecraft" mission for the Hind...

Is that a mission from a content creator that gives mission to patreon supporters, or is there a link on the user files?

Ah, that's what Hepp was telling me, that the Hind was assembled largely from equipment that was already on the manufacturing lines. Very amusing fact.

It was just a mission that I made for myself to learn to use the direction finding radios.

The idea was to find a crash/landing site with a beacon signal using the R-852 and before reaching the area the signal is gone. I would then have to find the moving truck with the stolen cargo "listening" (because you cannot hear and find the direction of the signal at the same time) the communication of the truck and it's hideout.
