Kvek Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 Hi Israel has a SAM network exclusive for air weapons defense. Could you add an option to restrict SAM to only engage weapons? Thank you

In DCS some SAM sites are capable of enageing air weapons like S-300 and Patriot. My skins

I know that there are SAM in DCS that can engage weapons. All I am asking for, is to add an option to only engage weapons so we could simulate that kind of air defenses.

But a similar SAM battery would be a patriot and/or S-300 restricted to weapons. AI fighter can be restricted to A/A or A/G, the option that I'am asking for isn't that different.
Dragon1-1 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Those are ABMs. They're not capable of engaging rockets or cruise missiles, leaving them with SCUDs as the only targets in DCS. Even then, at ranges we work with in DCS they're not really relevant. Arrow system had been designed to intercept things launched at Israel from Iran or Iraq, not from Syria. In general, ABMs are very different from SAMs. They're designed for targets flying at extreme altitudes, and their warheads are optimized against missiles, not aircraft. They typically use specialty radars, as well.
