What I want to do is set up a local communication system for my rig that that allows me to replicate how a real flight instructor speaks to a student during a lesson.

To elaborate - I want to have my friend sit in my rig, with headphones and a mic, and I want to be able to sit in a chair next to him, also with headphones and a mic, with both us having two-way communication, so I can provide real time instructions as needed, during a flight.

If you were tasked with setting such a thing up, assuming its possible within DCS, how would you go about doing it?

Strings and cans! You can go about it differnet ways. Connect both headsets to the same computer, one might need to be USB, and then use some mixer software, I'm sure someone has a recommendation. Use an external mixer/amplifier with two mic inputs, and then split the sound from the computer. Or, just use two computers, (you have a laptop?), with your favourite voicechat, Discord, Teamspeak etc. and run the DCS sound through speakers. You can even do a variation/combination of all of the above!
Cheers!

This is actually a clever approach...

...but not as clever as strings and cans 😄  😄  😄

Free professional advice: Do not rely upon any advice concerning computers from anyone who uses the terms "beast" or "rocking" to refer to computer hardware.  Just...don't.  You've been warned.

While we're at it, people should stop using the term "uplift" to convey "increase".  This is a technical endeavor, we're not in church or at the movies - and it's science, not drama.
