SAB0T Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Rockets currently have an unrealistically large fireball effect when impacting, same for tows/rpgs/s8/ and so on. If you were to take the effects from something like the apache 30mm, and upscale it like 300%, increase the smoke and you would have a much closer representation of what it looks like in real life. Little quick flash...lotta smoke, sometimes no flash. The current rocket effects would definitely be realistic as-is for a thermobaric warhead IMHO. I know this is probably much easier said then done to do 8

I know this is probably much easier said then done to do I complained about the ww2 HVAR explosions which are bigger than 500lb bomb explosions, yet only had 3kg of eksplosive. They should be more like small mortar explosions. 2 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
SAB0T Posted January 7, 2024 Author Posted January 7, 2024 @Gunfreak Yessir..... I've seen rockets, mortars, AT4s and missiles impact in real life, sometimes was on the receiving end. They are WAY TOO BIG, and WAY TOO MUCH FIREBALL. Hell I don't even think I've ever seen any of them even have a visible fireball or flash during the day time. Just a bang and a cloud of smoke and dust. It's really my only gripe about immersion breaking effects. I'm not sure how many people here have actually got to play with this stuff in real life.....But OMG would it be awesome if they could be the first to make it look actually real. Those DCS guncam youtube vids would be a lot more convincing lol 4
J4ckson Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I would also like to have it more of a flash/explosion and more dust/smoke combined with shockwave than a big fireball. Gun runs should also be more little flashes paired with a lot of dust/smoke. Ideally it would depend on the surface or object you hit. Hitting moist dirt of a hill on Kauskasus will have way less dust/smoke than hitting a building in the desert of Syria. 3 Ryzen7 5700X 8x3,4GHz (Turbo 4,6 GHz) || G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600MHz || Geforce RTX 4070Ti (12GB VRAM) || WD Black 500GB NVME || Windows 10 64Bit WinWing Orion 2 HOTAS 18 || LG Ultragear 32' WQHD || EyeCam IR Headtracking

They seriously toned down the impacts from bullets on both ground and water a couple of years back. There used to be huge plumes of smoke when you straffed the ground, and on the water it looked like small explosions. The new effects are much better and probably matches cannon impact quite well. But are a bit too much for .50 cals and especially rifle caliber bullets from mini guns or spitfire .303s. 1 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
