Moe_Viper Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Hey guys, I've tried everything to solve my replay problem. I'm hoping someone here has any insight into this issue. I enjoy playing DCS on multiplayer servers, and then editing the tracks via mission editor so that I can open up access to all the jets (blue and red). Then I replay the mission and can create some fun videos from different perspectives. After the last DCS update I can't even launch a simple replay "as-is", it just gives me a window that says, sorry DCS crashed can we collect your data and send it into no-mans land on the internet. I click sure, and sit there staring at my desktop after DCS shuts down. Any thoughts? I repaired, re-installed, removed mods (I just have the A-4e mod anyway), repaired windows, changed graphics settings... I mean, it worked before. What's changed now? This is my first post, hopefully it's in the right spot. Here are the last couple of lines from my DCS log after the most recent crash: 2024-01-12 06:26:10.663 INFO APP (Main): C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\edterrainExtra4.dll, 372736 bytes, created 28:12:2023-17.40.5, written 28:12:2023-17.40.5, accessed 12:1:2024-6.26.10 2024-01-12 06:26:10.664 INFO APP (Main): C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\edterrainGraphics41.dll, 1562112 bytes, created 28:12:2023-17.40.7, written 28:12:2023-17.40.7, accessed 12:1:2024-6.26.10 2024-01-12 06:26:10.664 INFO APP (Main): C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F-16C\bin\F16C.dll, 10692960 bytes, created 28:12:2023-17.40.8, written 28:12:2023-17.40.8, accessed 12:1:2024-6.26.10 2024-01-12 06:26:10.664 INFO APP (Main): try to write track file 2024-01-12 06:26:11.260 INFO APP (Main): 'C:\Users\wp1900\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs\dcs.20240112-062610.crash' deleted successfully 2024-01-12 06:26:11.380 INFO APP (Main): 'C:\Users\wp1900\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs\dcs.20240112-062610.dmp' deleted successfully 2024-01-12 06:26:13.794 INFO APP (Main): failed to open 'C:\Users\wp1900\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs\voice_chat.log' for reading and here's a piece from the log further up that I'm sure someone will find more interesting.... 2024-01-12 06:26:01.755 INFO EDTERRAINGRAPHICS41 (12496): surface5 gc() 2.301700 ms 2024-01-12 06:26:01.900 INFO LUA (Main): Lua: States: 710, CPU load: 4.6%, Mem: 644.7 MB 2024-01-12 06:26:01.901 INFO ASYNCNET (Main): track: onClientRun 2024-01-12 06:26:10.057 ALERT EDCORE (Main): Out of memory in ed_malloc for 194426774672 bytes. 2024-01-12 06:26:10.062 INFO EDCORE (Main): try to write dump information 2024-01-12 06:26:10.108 INFO EDCORE (Main): # -------------- 20240112-062610 -------------- 2024-01-12 06:26:10.108 INFO EDCORE (Main): DCS/2.9.2.49940 (x86_64; Yes, multiplayer tracks crashing to desktop is an issue a lot of people are having. I haven't seen a solution to it anywhere yet. There are a couple of threads about it in the Crash section here: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/482-game-crash/ 1 i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

Moe_Viper Posted January 27, 2024 Author Posted January 27, 2024 Thanks for the feedback. I guess I wait for the next update and hope they fix it.
Raven King Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I found out by mere chance that my tracks get "corrupted" if, during the flying session in MP I respawned. So what I do now is to leave the server everytime I land, crash my plane or get shot down. Then I re-enter the server and spawn again. In that way, each flight will be recorded on its own .trk file and won't crash by replay. I lose any points I may have made in the rooster, but it doesn't matter. I hope it helps.
Moe_Viper Posted March 17, 2024 Author Posted March 17, 2024 I've been testing different scenarios, and your solution didn't work for me. It doesn't matter if I respawn or don't respawn. What I found is that it's dependent on the multiplayer server. For example, when I play on Growling Sidewinder, I can respawn multiple times and still have no issues replaying the full track. If I play Contention 80s, every track crashes no matter what I do (spawn or no spawn). I also noticed that when I'm doing some single player practice stuff, replay works but it goes out of sync, which I know is a common issue. But I've also found that if I turn on NVIDIA experience to record my video while replaying, it causes an out of sync, but windows video recording doesn't do that for me. If I just watch the track and don't record, it stays in sync. Weird right? Also, if you switch views to external and start jumping around from jet to jet, that seems to cause more out of sync issues. If you replay and only stay in the cockpit without changing to external views, it seems to replay just fine. But where's the fun in that, I like the external view so I can see myself crash and burn. Just my observations, take them with a grain of salt.

Well, at first that seemed promising, as a few trackfiles do work and those were the ones without respawn... but after digging through some tacviews to find tracks without respawns or any incidents, found also many of them not working, same error. Barely had any issues with replays in the past (other than desync) Replays from another one from the same sessions do work, difference here mostly is Intel(him) and AMD(me), even got the same VR headset. (EDIT: both are on AMD CPUs) Will try without loaded tacview mod, see if that makes any difference.. but all private-server replays work, even with tacview... not so much expectations in this... Theres also: those are the same problem. Edited April 6, 2024 by durp

I am trying to replay tracks from Growling Sidewinder's server and now they are crashing too, so I think you're right. It is a pitty, because so many content creators making videos out of those tracks are pretty much free publicity for DCS World as a whole. Hope the guys in ED fix it sooner than later. Best regards! Cheers!

Moe_Viper Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 Looks like the new update 2.9.6 didn't solve the replay track problem. I tried different multiplayer servers without any luck. This time the game didn't give me a crash notification, it just stopped at "Mission Load Fail." I tried to shut it down and then it crashes back to the desktop. The last line of my log file is: 2024-07-12 17:01:52.976 INFO VISUALIZER (13028): render thread has stopped === Log closed. I even renamed the track files, edited them in mission editor and resaved them. Still got the same error with the game stopping at "Mission Load Fail" Oh well, I'll just keep doing live screen recordings from the cockpit.

Moe_Viper Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Another update on this topic.... I've noticed a few youtubers doing videos from the multiplayer servers, and so I'm wondering how they are able to go back and review and record different angles? I still can't get the replay to work. I've given up a long time ago but seeing those videos made me wonder if anyone has figured out a work around that I might not know about? At one point some servers could be replayed and some not. But now all servers don't let me replay, so it can't just be a script issue. I still get the same error with a log file that ends on "render thread has stopped" and a frozen DCS screen that says "failed to load mission."
