Elwood_Blues Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Okay, not a noob so we can skip that part...well that is my opinion. I am a RIO and I have everything set for A2G, my controls are good. Everything is good. I can located the target and sometimes I can get the Point Track to lock with the box, then it won't. Same target. I understand the contrast may not be good enough...I put it is AGC usually. I also set it to Manual for the computer. Area Track will work one time, then it wont work again. Sporadic. Once in Area Track, sometimes it loses track with a LM code and it takes Jesus to get it back. Any suggestions or advice? Thanx
ValhallaAB Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Don't think this is scientific but try to use WHOT (White hot) for the color mode. Don't know if it even matters but my RIO said that worked for him alot better when we lased and destroyed SA-8's on airfields in Caucasus. Other than that I need to RIO alot more and I have my own problems trying to lase targets with that bowl of pixels. 1 Win-11, I7-14700K, RTX-4080-S, DDR5 64GB 6400Mhz, Samsung 4K,60hz monitor, VKB-STECS Throttle, Virpil WarBRD base + TM-F-16 grip, TrackIR 5. Thorp Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) I haven't spent much time using the Lantern, and I will agree it takes a lot of patience. I read somewhere that the Lantern is only effective at 15 miles to the target coordinates. Locking a target vehicle in which a box appears around the target is limited to 10 miles. Lack of camera feed contrast will cause locking issues. Edited February 4, 2024 by Thorp
bonesvf103 Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I don;t really ever use AGC. With MGC I get a lock that is held pretty well. I find that if I am in point track and I lose the lock, if I quickly select area track, then slew the cursor back on target, I can get a point lock right away again. v6, boNes "Also, I would prefer a back seater over the extra gas any day.
