Fangs Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I have a new rig with a Quest 3. The performance has been smooth as butter. However, visually, the lettering in the cockpit is not on the level as of yet. For example, in the DED (i think that's what it's called) the lettering (UHF 305 VHF 207... etc) is weirdly distorted. Almost like a superscript/subscript combination where the "3" is slightly up, the "0" is down, and the "5" is slightly raised on the same level as the 3. This is throughout the DED. Everything clears up as I lean forward towards the cockpit to view the letters. I've played with all of the anti-aliasing values and I'm out of things to try.

To get the best clarity in VR you need to max out the resolution. If you are using oculus link then push the resolution slider to the right. Are you using any sharpening? You can enable sharpening through oculus tray tool (or oculus debug tool) or use DCS sharpening; or OXRTK. What anti-aliasing are you using? DLSS can cause blurring/distortion. DLAA is a better option for clarity. Using a higher bitrate (max 960) also reduces compression artifacts, although there is not much noticable difference above 500. You can set this in OTT/ODT. It might be worth posting your system specs. PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). I played around with MSAA and DLAA but I was starting to get a performance hit. So I switched over to DLSS and things are running smoothly without much loss in cockpit clarity. I'll take it. 1

This reduces your peripheral resolution and takes some of the load off your GPU. It's mainly for DFR but it works in fixed mode too. You can play with the settings to see what works best. https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated Edited February 3, 2024 by Qcumber 1 PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present).
