Been watching a few videos about Opentrack and AItrack and some say get a 60fps webcam and others say 30fps is enough.

What is the consensus over here? Can I get away with a dirt cheap webcam with 30fsp or do i need to shell out a bit more for 60fps?

EDIT: also one video says I just need Opentrack another says i need Aitrack as well...im confused

before I got into VR, I used a sony eyecam and it was more responsive than my basic 25/30 fps webcam. The eyecam was only about $25 on ebay and can do 60fps at 640x480, or 120 at 320x240. I only ever tried the 60fps but it was worth it over the basic webcam.

The best free head tracking results i had were with a xbox360 camera and some software I can't recall the name of. It tracked the face and worked very well considering nothing needed to be worn and lighting conditions didn't affect it.

Are you going to use face tracking or LED clips?

if you are going with face tracking via opentrack, here is a post by blindspeaker with setting that they used.  I've read a number of posts saying you don't need aitrack.  Opentrack is free so nothing to lose.  There is Aruco as well.

With face tracking good lighting is needed from the videos I saw.  And I would consider 60fps.

Then there is the good old LED clips.

Hi,

Get a new or used PS3 - Sony Eye USB camera.

It's surprising that even after so many years there isn't a better camera.

The last version has a weaker IR filter, so it does not need any intervention in the lens.

All you need to do is shade the lens with a gray filter.
