DCoffey Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 I bought the gazelle right after I bought the Huey, i have done 90% of my time n the Huey and 10% in the f18 or a10. I’m feel very comfortable in the Huey, hover, transitions, sling loads hardly ever crash anymore. i saw they recently updated the gazelle so I thought I would give it a try. all i can manage to do is roll over and crash. Then crash and crash. Can’t seem to take off or hover. I set my stick to 26 and then 30 so it’s less sensitive at first just like the Huey but to no avail. It immediately try’s to roll over and any amount of correction isn’t helping. am I missing something very fundamental with the new update? When I first got the gazelle a couple years ago I had no problem hovering or taking off. any comments welcome!
DCoffey Posted February 3, 2024 Author Posted February 3, 2024 After reading another thread, wow! Some people. Please do not take my question as anything against the developers or the new FM. I kNOW the problem is I have to learn the new model and what’s changed.
swartbyron Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 (edited) I've just recently learnt the Gazelle after having it gather dust on my hard drive for years on end and now I've fallen in love with it. Flying with the usual short sprung stick that most of us use, the biggest game changer form me was flattening the Saturation Y and using as little curvature as possable. This make the Gazelle much more manageable for learning and flying with in the everyday flight envelope. It will only limit you if you attempt manoeuvres that require rare full cyclic deflection and that you will almost never do. You can increase the saturation if once you've got comfortable flying and want more response or travel, but I've felt no need to do so. The ultimate answer is a true to life full length cyclic, for me this seems to be the best compromise. Hope this helps Pitch - Y Roll - X Edited February 3, 2024 by swartbyron 2
trelos57 Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 (edited) When taking off try having a bit of left cyclic and a lot of right pedal (40-60% right), this works for me. Gazelle while hovering wants to translate right and if your right skid is on the ground you will roll over. Personally i don't use any curves or saturation and i manage it just fine with my t16000m, just a bit of deadzone on the cyclic. Edited February 3, 2024 by trelos57 3

Have you uninstalled the old Gazelle and then install it again...this solved a lot of problems for me, which sound similar. Marshallman Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) @DCoffey This is probably aimed at anyone with flight setup problems, Newbies etc. Hope it can help. Ive spent a lot of time recently with this machine along with @swartbyron and its so sweet. First thing I noticed is the Autopilot, I have mapped it and usually leave it off, only bringing it in for weapons delivery to utilise the Hover. It resolves a snap like effect of the heli, which may also be the "glued effect" on the ground? Second thing is 50% fuel transorms it, but its still very capable with a full fuel and weapons. Third thing, Trim reset.....I find it invaluable when transitioning into Landing turns and it very quickly becomes natural to reset trim when you have achieved new flight position (mapped to tms aft switch on stick). Also holding the trim in when transitioning does the same thing, I had NO idea you could do this...... but on my joystick it does loose connection occasionally. Settings are based on my setup I have a Virpil collective with Alpha LH grip and a Warthog Joystick with a 200mm swan neck extension. Crosswind Yaw/rudder Pedals These all relate to right hand sliders Deadzone, Saturation X, Saturation Y, Curvature of all your axes Roll 0 - 50 - 100 - 10 Pitch 0 - 50 - 100 - 10 Yaw 0 - 100 - 100 - minus10 Collective 0 - 50 - 100 - minus 20 (invert - this maybe just a Virpil requirement) Special settings Cyclic trim type instant, Pedal trim type None If its still too twitchy, then try deadzones on Roll and pitch of 4 each. Just a couple of fingers on the stick Roll and pitch error for the above, Sorry. Just realised after re-programming collective after new Apache Grip today Roll 0 - 100 -50 - 10 Pitch 0 - 100 - 50 - 10 Regards Regards Nimbus Edited February 6, 2024 by Marshallman Roll and Pitch error 3XS AMD RyzenTM 7 9800X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 8 Core, 16 Thread, 4.7GHz, 5.2GHz Turbo, ASUS PRIME X870-P WiFi AM5 DDR5 PCIe 5.0 ATX Motherboard,Nvidia Geoforce RTX4090,Corsair Vengeance Grey 64GB 6000MHz AMD EXPO DDR5 Memory Kit,Windows 10 Pro Reverb G2V2
