Have we heard anything about if it's the Block 2 version of it or Block 1..?

Do we know if there are any countermeasures on the variant we are getting..?

And i guess we won't get any FLIR or terrain following Radar...

Hoping there soon will be released more news and a roadmap with features for this magnificent beast 🙂

It's a Block I. The Block II only just started production recently. As to which CAAS Software Version/DAFCS version we'll have, not sure. Hopefully CAAS 9.4.4 and DAFCS 3.3, but we'll see. There will be countermeasures for sure. No FLIR or TFR for the MYII Block I F model. If they add a SOAR variant, either the newer G model or the older E model, we may get those.

MH-47G isn't coming anytime soon, that's for sure. What makes you say "hopefully" with getting those specific CAAS and DAFCS versions?

Those are the most recent ones and they have a ton of amazing features and capabilities. Some of the older DAFCS versions are not great.

Well, hopefully we get those. I'm surprised we're even able to get a CH-47F

I mean, it's not really a classified aircraft in any way. Has certain things on it that are classified of course, but most of the capabilities are open source, since the aircraft has remained largely unchanged since it's inception in the 60's. Same reason we were able to get a D model Apache, they just have to take their best guess when it comes to certain systems/functions that may be classified.

They don't take guesses, they leave those functions unimplemented. That said, there shouldn't be a whole lot of that in the Chinook. It's a transport helo with very little fancy tech.

CH-47F definitely has fancy tech, and if you still don't think so check out the MH-47Gs.

It does, but it's not weapons or heavy ECM, the sort that tends to cause trouble in a combat aircraft. Many of the things you can find in CH-47F are also available on civil aircraft.

MH-47G is a whole other story. Quite frankly, I would have preferred the D model. It's far more iconic than the F.

Very detailed and well-sourced rundown you have here. Care to elaborate further? What systems does the CH-47F have that are on the same level of sensitivity as Link 16, ECM pods, or Longbow radar, just to name a few examples?

i hope the CH47F we have has datalink modem.  IRRC ED had said they are basing it off a 2007 Ch47F. I could only find a 2011 publication, So im not sure what the earlier 2007 Ch47F didn't have, if its same avionics and only a minor software or flight control system upgrade.

Now the system the Ch47F has is not a proper datalink with automatic real time updates like Link 16, but from my understanding it works similar to the Longbow IDM.
