Being in a similar place as you, OP, (except without a pilot's license [you lucky dog] :P), I feel like I'm well-placed to say a few things.

1. Cold start procedure isn't all that bad. A little longer than the one in Falcon 4. I watched the video once, wrote myself a checklist, and haven't had any problems. :P

Unless you have earlier realistc helo sim experience, though, be prepared for a few hours of flight before you're comfortable (maybe even if you do--the flight model here is rather more detailed than any of the previous ones I've seen). The Ka-50 is a nimble little number, and that means that until you get a feel for the controls you'll be madly chasing the nose around the sky.

3. As for out of the box, well, things all work, and the stability is incredible. The way ground units react to being attacked by air units is kinda off, though, and (although this isn't really a problem likely to be fixed in a patch) I really *really* wish there was a dynamic campaign engine.

another issue is limited number of activations. so, if you f.e reinstall you O/C often or lose your registry data, you may have problem with getting the game to work in a future.

I really don't understand why this issue comes up every time.

Have you not come across the registry tweak so you can save your activation info?

Besides, even if you would run out of activations because you didn't save the registry info I doubt its nothing a quick email to ED can't fix.

You bought the game, there's no need to be afraid it gets taken from you again after a few re-installs. ;)

another issue is limited number of activations. so, if you f.e reinstall your O/S often or lose your registry data, you may have problem with getting the game to work in a future.

It's 8 activations and 10 deactivations (can be used to reinstall after hardware changes). I do also know that people who have run into issues with it and has asked ED nicely have been refilled. So while I really don't like activations myself, their solution isn't catastrophic.

the 3rd thing is that Kamov implemented in game have no any natural opponent (such like AH64 or any NATO combat heli), what makes the game unrealistic (Kamov vs Kamov?) and boring. thats all translate to playbility and number of players on the servers (about 30 was the most I've seen).

Ehm, it not having a "natural opponent" only makes it "unrealistic" in the sense that any multiplayer map that is set up purely for helo-on-helo action is itself "unrealistic". You don't increase realism through giving it an opponent to fight in scenarios that by definition are as far removed from the role of the aircraft as it is possible to be.

If you require balanced deathmatch gameplay for a game to be fun, sure, this won't be all that good. But don't claim it to be "unrealistic" because it doesn't offer NATO playable opponents (yet) in online deathmatch...

Thank you for all the suggestions again. I appreciate the honesty about the possible sound issues as well, but it won't change my mind. I am buying this game in a couple of days.

Don't give her a copy, just ask her if she would like you at home or spending your time in a bar or at a friends house instead. At least you are at home ignoring her while you play :D

Hehhe so true

Welcome to the madhouse!

Just like having kids you won't regret buying Black Shark . There will be frustrating times, lots of crying and plenty of bedtime reading (especially if you print out the manual) and maybe a cranky wife too, but overall its a pretty good experience!

Good luck!
