McVittees Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Landed a bit hard in the SU-25 (although I didn't realise at the time) so when I took off again the nose wheel wouldn't retract. So what did I do with this droopy piece of undercarrige? Skimmed a mountain top at low level to knock it off - but what happened instead? It got knocked up to a semi-retracted position! Cool or what? The wheel even continued to spin as I flew along! (No pics I'm afraid). :P I must say this demo has reignited my interest in Lock-on. The SU-25 flight model seems much more realistic (and thus fun) and the laser cool up/down business is cool. I threw away Lockon in disgust a few months ago, but it looks like I'll have to pick it up again just to try the SU-25T and in the hope that that one day all the aircraft in Lock-On will get the 'AFM'. I'm sure the AI still sucks, well I know it does, as in both demo missions my wingman insists of chasing helicopters right above SAM launchers and ignoring 'enage air defences' or 'rejoin' calls  , but hey, look on the bright side right? W-Natas Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 The Ai is stupid this is true :D The traffic control should be better too. Last time after i was allowed to land. I landed and 2 seconds later my Wingman crashed into me. The same happened after my Wingman landed, my Wingman was still on airfield and i was cleard to land. . . . . etc. This message was sponsored by "askingstupidquestions.com" in cooparation with "icantfly.de".

Trident Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 I wholeheartedly agree on the new FM, it's the reason why I've been playing the v1.1 demo more than the full version of 1.02 lately. The Su-25 pure joy to fly and (crash-) land, it has removed practically all unconvincing limitations that the old version used to have :D I can only repeat myself, I want the other aircraft to get a similar model more than ever now, having had a taste of the possibilities makes flying them feel very arkward. Just a few minutes ago I had the following experience: My wingman, having exhausted his ammo was landing infront of me and I was planning to come in close behind to repair my jet and take off again. The bloody Avenger had managed to damage my hydraulics as its parting shot and although the jet continued to fly pretty well for a while I lost almost all aileron authority after a few minutes. Just as I was fighting to line up for touchdown (ailerons are far more important than they seem!) my wingy got whacked by a tank shell from one of the M60's which were approaching the base, barely a few hundred metres infront of me! The wreck of his aircraft of course came to an abrupt stop, forcing me to stamp on the rudder to evade practically moments after touchdown. Somehow I managed to get around the scrap metal (on one mainwheel) but lost control trying to keep the wallowing Frogfoot on the runway. My right wing hit the ground hard and broke off and although the aircraft righted itself afterwards I was in big trouble: the steep bank of the stream on the other side of the airfield was approaching rapidly! The aircraft sailed into the air, soared across the river (at which point I ejected) and crashed down hard on the other side, shedding bits and pieces as it spun to a halt. Priceless!
Skywall23 Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Intersting reading Trident. :) Well, its my time to tell you my Su-25 experience. I jumped into the cockpit of the Frog and started flying over the battle field. I kept my wingman near, I could see the MRLS missiles being fired at the russian troops on the ground. I ordered my wingman to detroy the choppers, and os he did (he must love shooting them down  ). I shot down one of the Helis while the other was shot down by my wingman. Then the Avenger shot him down, and I was alone facing enormous quantities of enemy units. :? I destroyed the MRLS vehicles while the M-60s and the Avenger where destroyed by a single (!) T-80. Then I destroyed an BRDM. All this was accomplished by using rockets, cannon and bombs. The I fired a missile at the Bunker. Direct hit, but no damamge. I was going to launch another one at the target when I hear the computer voice "Fuel 1500". I had to get to the airfield then. While I was in the battle I got hit in my right wing. You could noticed the plane balancing to the left, because of the damage and due to the R-73 that was on the left wing. I dropped all my ammo and went to the airfield. I aproached the airfield, and there was no danger of being hit enemy troops. I tried to make an early landing. Bad idea! I didnt even touch the ground due to high airspeed. Tried again and manage to touch down. However my front tire blew off due to the impact (I couldnt control much the plane due to the damage) on the runway. I taxiied and manage to try out the Shift+L key for the first time. After turning everything off, the plane self repaired and you notice that the tire had being repaired since the plane nose went a bit upwards. It was the best mission I did in the Su-25 quick start. Too bad I didnt manage to destroy all targets. But when you start with 60% fuel or something, and your wingman gets shot down...well, I just think I did my best. It was terribly fun though! :D I WANT THE ADD-ON! AAAAAAHHHH!
