Hi,

i just had an interesting crash.

i was flying a winter-scenario on the 05. of january with a temperature of

-10 degrees ©.

i turned on the rotor-anti-ice at the start of the flight, but during the flight i still got some EKRAN "turn on roter antiice" warnings.

then after about 15-20 minutes in the mission, i suddenly loose rotor power and then crash.

did i miss something, or was the antiice maybe not strong enough to cope with the temperature ?

i have attached the track-file if anyone feels like having a look at it :)

thanks for information :P

I didn't take a look at the track but you have to turn on both the rotor anti-ice and the engines anti-ice, and pitot and sensor heaters and stuff.

I had a look at you track and you indeed forgot to switch on engine anti ice, which was the reason for your loss of power. The second setting of the dust protection switch turns on engine anti ice. Also, as Kwill said, you should switch on the heaters for the pitot tube and the angle of attack/side slip sensors. They can be found on the left side of the overhead panel.

but during the flight i still got some EKRAN "turn on roter antiice" warnings

The anti-ice warning system works this way:

- it's a special sensor that senses ice on it

- once the ice is 0.4mm or thicker, it simultaneously a) sets off the alarm and b) engages the sensor heater

- the sensor heater defrosts the sensor for 160 seconds, then disengages

SO, you will receive icing warnings repeatedly when flying in icy conditions. Even with full heat on.

If you live to fly again, it's a successful landing. The plane being able to fly again is just a bonus.
