v2tec Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 (edited) Here are some big improvements you can easily implement. It saves so much time on filtering and searching each time I play DCS. 1. In the server list, don't show servers, that run modules I haven't installed and I can not join. Maybe someone is interested in how many servers are hosting special maps, but for me, I just want to join a game and not interested in that 2. In the server list, store my last filter settings and use it as default (e.g. servers with passwords, ping rate. etc.) 3. On the server - remove slots I can't join, because I don't have that aircraft. Why do I need to see all these slots and scroll thru them every time? Just don't show it to me. You already checked that I don't have this module, this is why it is greyed so, so please don't show me these slots I can not use. What would be also great, highlight or mark the last joined server. I know you can give them a favorit star, but knowing, what was the last server I played on, would be great. Thx. You don’t need to own a module to join a server using it. You need to own the map but there’s already a filter for that. You need to own the asset packs too, maybe if there were more of those a filter could be useful but now there’s just the WWII pack. 1 hour ago, v2tec said: 3. It means that sometimes, you run across a server that runs only modules that you don't have. Say, a Cold War server when all you have is modern aircraft. I don't think there's an easy way to filter that out. 1

That might be a good idea, an aircraft selection filter for what you want to fly akin to what’s in the server itself when you join. But that doesn’t sound like the OPs problem or at least how it’s worded. The phrase “I haven't installed and I can not join“ implies being blocked from joining due to uninstalled content. Afaik that can only happen with terrains or asset packs, not modules. Unofficial mods could cause that problem as well. Then add a component to the client browser to let the user filter both by specific module as well as a filter to hide servers with no open slots the client can use. 1

Modules may be uninstalled for more than one reason, and some people might install and uninstall as needed. Seeing the full server list can also give you an idea of how popular a module is which can aid in buying it. Quote 2. In the server list, store my last filter settings and use it as default (e.g. servers with passwords, ping rate. etc.) Being able to store settings sound good but default I'm less sure about unless maybe it is very clearly highlighted. You can tell where most players are operating and what they're flying. Example you only own A-10 and want to know if CAP is around. If all the fighters are hidden, now it's harder. A lot of these would be fine as options, but as changes to default behavior they could cause problems. 1 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

It should be definitely possible to see the full list, but filtering out modules you don't currently have is definitely desirable. Even if you do have some modules uninstalled right now, to reenable them would require you to quit DCS and wait for it to install, something you may not want to do at the moment. 1 hour ago, SharpeXB said: The phrase “I haven't installed and I can not join“ implies being blocked from joining due to uninstalled content. Or maybe he meant that even though he technically can join a server, it's of no use for him because all he can do is spectate, as there are no aircraft for him to fly. Most people join servers to fly on them, you know? 2
