Alexrey Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I used to play LOFC online a lot, but nowadays I get kicked by every server within about 5 minutes of connecting. At first I thought it was my ISP that was doing it, but I was told that if it was my ISP, they wouldn't have even let me connect to the servers. So I was wondering what everyone has set the max ping in their servers to be before kicking a player. Thanks.
104th_Crunch Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 For the 169th there is no auto kick feature. If there is an admin present you may be asked to reconnect or kicked. We would type a chat message we are doing so however. I don't think other servers have a auto kick feature as well. Make sure you use 128/128kb as your connection speed in the LO options. If you are using a wireless connection they are known to be unreliable. To me it seems that you just have a poor connection thus getting disconnected.
Alexrey Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Yup, Its set to 128/128. Do you know of any techniques that would make my internet connection more stable? I NEVER used to have this problem until a few months ago. :(
104th_Crunch Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Well, I was having the same issue 2 weeks ago. If you are using a router, unplug it and plug your your modem straight into your PC. You get a slightly better connection that may help. What pings are you getting to servers?
Alexrey Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 I'm usually getting around 500-700ms ping.
element1108 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I wasn't getting high ping in servers, but i was getting kicked every 2-5mins or so. Not kicked as much as dropped connection. I plugged my internet connection directly into my computer and it fixed the problem. Turns out I needed to install a firmware update on my linksys and it resolved the problem fully. Try updating your modem and I'm assuming you're running the latest 1.12a or b patch for FC?
golfsierra2 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 AFAIK with the wrong patch status or no patch he would not be able to join a HL server at all as almost every server is running on 1.12a/b. kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]
hitman Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 What is your internet speed? 56k you would be kicked due to time-outs. If your behind a router, open port 10308 UDP. You can go to speedtest.net and see your connection speed. If you have a fast connection, you should be running 1024/1024 or 2048/2048. 104th_Crunch Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I'm usually getting around 500-700ms ping. That is rather high. It seems that you simply have a slow internet connection. Not much you can do other than to upgrade to a better connection.

Try updating your modem and I'm assuming you're running the latest 1.12a or b patch for FC? We get our internet from little dish thing that's bolted to the wall. A network cable comes out of the dish and goes into my Dad's computer, then another network cable goes from my Dad's computer into a switch, and then finally all the other computers in the house get internet by having a network cable going from our computers into the switch. So surely the internet is being plugged directly into my Dad's computer? Oh and I don't think we use a router (dunno if that info would be of much use, just thought I'd get it out there). How can I update the firmware for out internet? Maybe that could solve my problem as well. And yeah, I'm running v1.12b. That is rather high. It seems that you simply have a slow internet connection. I used to be able to play fine when we had 96k wireless so I find it really weird that I can't now.
S77th-konkussion Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Maybe you have antivirus holding you up, or an improperly configured router/ firewall. Regardless- a 1/2 second + ping will likely lose connection all on it's own. An admin would have little choice but to have you leave the room. You've got to be warping all over the place- and someone else engaging you would see some crazy **** [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 He has wireless/satellite internet. It's not going to get any faster. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
