swartbyron Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I get a senseless drop in FPS in random places and even in the back country miles from anywhere where the only thing rendered is the trees. I can hold a solid 60 FPS on every map currently released at the maximum settings DCS has to offer, it makes no sense that sparsely populated South Atlantic slows me to a slide show in the middled of nowhere with nothing to be seen other than trees. With thanks *For anyone frustrated with this problem, pulling back the Forest Details Factor slider to 0 eases the problem for the most part and can be done in game whist on the fly.
BJ55 Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 It's not only the trees, even with all LOD sliders at 0.1 this map cause severe stutters in certain areas and with certain aircrafts (the most complex ones). 2 I7-12700F, 64GB DDR4 XMP1 3000MHz, Asus Z670M, MSI RTX 3070 2560x1440 60Hz, TIR 5, TM WH VPC base, TM rudder, Win10 Pro
BJ55 Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Well, with shadows disabled I can keep all my normal settings without stuttering! (don't mind the 55FPS, it's caused by the screenshot generation) 1 I7-12700F, 64GB DDR4 XMP1 3000MHz, Asus Z670M, MSI RTX 3070 2560x1440 60Hz, TIR 5, TM WH VPC base, TM rudder, Win10 Pro
swartbyron Posted March 14, 2024 Author Posted March 14, 2024 Yes there are a number of things you can do, dropping shadows, lowering of the view distance and others will all help but you shouldn't need to. If you can fly between the buildings of Dubai, Cairo, London or Paris on other maps and hold 60fps, then you should be able to fly over a small farm and trees on otherwise empty terrain on South Atlantic too. On the same note if I can have a silky smooth ride low over the buildings of Rio Grande and Rio Gallegos, I cant see why I have a stuttering mess flying up a random valley near Ushuaia where there is nothing but trees? rwbishUP Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 Just tried to do some flying on the SA map, after not using it for a LONG time. Did fine at altitude, dropped down to fly the landscape...........it wasn't happening. The performance deg was amazing. Losing near 70fps just from some basic woodland scenery and a small amount of water, it's just horrible. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, ROG ASTRAL RTX5080, G.SKILL TRI Z5 64gb, 4tb M.2 x 2, WIN 11 PRO x64
swartbyron Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 (edited) Just to say thank you for the work done with the trees in the last update. My performance has been improved immensely and I can now hold a solid 60 fps with the Forest Details Factor slider at maximum, map wide. Much appreciated Edited May 26, 2024 by swartbyron 2
