Dear all,

By default DCS uses OpenXR which is supported by Oculus.

For Multithreading DCS we also have a native Oculus API available which can be enabled by adding --force_oculus_VR

(Please ensure OpenXR is disabled, and you are using MT DCS.)

Target line example in properties

"D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR --force_oculus_VR

Before I hose my open XR based settings, will the MT native Oculus API likely improve performance etc? I'm using 7800X3D and 4090 Quest 3 while the second copilot's PC is an old 4770k with RTX2080 Quest 2.  Both use the MT dcs.exe. Thanks in advance.

Hi BigNewey, could you explain the difference between using this and using  choosing the oculus xr runtime in the oculus desktop app settings please? Is this something you should use instead of or in conjunction with ?

It is just an option that can be used if you do not want to use openXR api

I am not sure of the advantages or if there is any as I do not own it myself to test. But I would use openXR personally.

Instead of.

This whole topic is rather a leftover from the past few weeks, when many people could not use their Quest with DCS without some workarounds.

From my experience it is in fact best to use OpenXR, as BigNewy said.

So the options are:

1. Select Oculus PC App as active OpenXR runtime. No further modifications to the target line of the DCS.exe are necessary. (RECOMMENDED)

2. Select any other software as active OpenXR runtime (i.e. SteamVR, VD, WMR). This is just to take it away from Oculus. Don‘t actually use that other software. (Alternatively one can use xr-picker). Then create a DCS shortcut with the above mentioned modification to the target line. Run that shortcut.
