mkel2010 Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 SimApp Pro warns that ALL other USB devices need to be disconnected (including USB hubs) before updating firmware on Winwing controllers. Has anyone done these updates WITHOUT disconnecting every other USB device in the system?
Keith Briscoe Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 I've certainly done without disconnecting my usb hub which is where my mouse is plugged. No issues with update. 1
rob10 Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 I'll admit that I have played with fire and done it without disconnecting. Definitely a possibility that it could corrupt something if you don't, but if you accidentally do it you'll likely be OK.
Nightdare Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Done it with basic USB peripherals active, including my NZXT AIO Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Base & Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Interceptor Rudder Pedals w. damper / WinWing Orion2 18, 18 UFC & HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Button Box
mkel2010 Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 I went ahead and disconnected a couple of USB drives and the hub and updated my rudder pedals and throttle. Everything went well and force feedback actually works now with the throttle handle in DCS. 1
ZACHI Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 (edited) I updated the throttle without disconnecting from my USB hub with all other peripherals and had no issue. Now I have a challenge with the Orion 2 stick base update - I get a message to disconnect the F16 grip…?! Anyway to update without doing it? The connector is too sensitive and I prefer not to do that. Thanks Edited May 5, 2024 by ZACHI

So easy to damage that connector and so fiddley to plug it back in.
