Ok I purchased this sim years ago but never really got into it for reasons not related to Lockon. I had invested much of my time in Silent Hunter III with the Grey Wolves modification and experienced years of WW2 U-boat goodness.

But now with the release of DCS Black Shark I am getting itchy feet for some ground pounding and mud moving. In short I want to learn how to fly the Su-25 and Su-25T over the next 3-6 months before seriously commiting to DCS Blackshark.

Currently I have a decent system setup as is shown in my signiture. I do not currently have a working joystock or throttle. Hence I have ordered the Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS system along with the Saitek Rudder Pedals. I have also purchased in the last couple of months the Track Ir4 Pro.

I have installed Lockon vanilla V.1 disc followed by the Flamming Cliffs addon disc. I then have patched this to versions 1.12. I assume that this is where I need to be in terms of having the simulation up to date?

Are there any mods I should install upfront or utilities? What about this Loman/Modman program? Should that be my first starting point? Also are there any good profiles for the Saitek X52Pro and rudder combination aimed at the Su-25/Su-25T?

Absolutely get Modman at www.lockonfiles.com the one stop shop for LOMAC downloads. There are so many mods out its hard for me to suggest what will be good for you but check out this thread for some great ideas/mods.

Hope this helps, as an extra note when you first go in to set up your stick/throttle/rudders you'll need to delete all the commands the game sets up for you and your input devices automatically, one at a time. I hate that myself wish there was a way tp delete all the commands for any given game device!

Thanks for that great advise. :) I now have Lockon Flamming Cliffs running on my system and have installed latest versions of Modman and have just a few mods installed.

I recieved my new Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS and the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Initially when I went into the game having installed all the new Saitek software I wasn't too sure what to do and noticed immediately some conflict in that if I despressed either of the toe brakes on the rudder pedals it would roll me left and so on. Obviously there was a conflict. Then I looked back at what you said regarding deleting the default commands.

So I went into the options menu and from the drop down menu selected firstly the Saitek X52 Pro. In there I deleted all of the settings for pitch, roll, rudder, and thrust. Everything else was empty. Then I set pitch to Axis 1, Roll to Axis 0, and thrust to Axis 2.

Then from the drop down menu I selected the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Again I deleted any options shown. Then I clicked on rudder cnad changed this to rotator 2.

After all these changes above I then clicked ok to save them before then going into quick fly option and noted that all the flight control inputs worked without any apparent conflict. Pitch, roll, thrust, and rudder all worked fine and when I accidentally depressed the toe brakes during rudder changes nothing happened in that the aircraft didn't roll left or anything untoward.

I do now have a couple of questions. :helpsmilie:

First how should I program the rest of the buttons and controls such as the weapons, rader, and so forth? Should I use the Saitek SSD software or do I program all the functions in the same way as above in game? It would seem like a nightmare task to program all the function buttons and dials via the in game menu.

Secondly in the Config folder located within the main lockon directory I noticed a CFG file (config file) named joyrange. Opening this CFG file is has only the following: JoyRange = 400; Should I leave this as is for my Saitek X52 Pro and Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals or should I change this value to something else?

Hopefully I can get all these Flight controller stuff sorted out before then moving onto the more important tasks of learning to fly and use effectively the weapons platforms to move some serious mud.

As you have mentioned, it would be a great task to individually map each button in the Lock On controller menu. Also, if you re-install you would have to do this all over! The best thing to do would be to search for a pre-made profile for your gear, then customize it to your own taste. I am sure there are Lock On profiles over at lockonfiles.com and other places.
