159_Archer Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 My X-52 has just started having an X and Y axis problem (aileron and elevator surfaces). This happens in both FC and BS. As you input the surfaces 'flutter' then when at max movement they cancel as if no input is being made. When you look at any test page, the X-Y movement seems fine. I've done the obvious things but nothing has changed, leading me to suspect that something has worn out. Anyone any the wiser? HitchHikingFlatlander Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Do the obvious things inlcude messing with the deadzone. I'm not exactly the wiser around here but its worth messing with if you havent tried. http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
Triggerhappy69 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Hmmmm... Does the X-52 have standard potmeters? If so I woyld say that it sound like you need to clean the carbon track inside of them. Or just simply replace them.. But I thought the X-52 used Hall Effect Sensors? Or was that just the X-52 PRO? There is a guide on how to do this on the Cougar Website.. http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/mods.php "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team USSR_Rik Posted April 24, 2009 ED Team Posted April 24, 2009 X-52 uses Hall sensor system with constant magnets insted of potentiometers, so owner don't needed to clean resistors. Archer, please describe your problem in details, because X-52 is enough good device for flying simulators. (But non-linearity of X-52 is well known problem). CyBerkut Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Yes, what USSR Rik said. ;) Two things mentioned in the original statement seem at odds with one another... the described problematic behaviour vs the test page results. The X-52 does indeed use Hall sensors. A while back, someone offered up a mod that involved changing the arrangement of the magnets inside the stick: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=21199 It occurred to me that your magnet(s) or hall sensors may have somehow shifted a bit, causing the resulting output curve to shift. The above mod might be worth looking into. Even if you do not elect to do it, it may at least give you better insight into how your stick develops the X and Y axis outputs, and may let you spot a problem if your magnets or hall sensors have physically shifted somehow. Ramstein Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 do you have other flight sims to test the stick with? ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
159_Archer Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 OK, I have reinstalled both LO/FC and BS, and now it works fine in BS. -But still I have the above problem in LO/FC. I will install another flight-sim (I haven't got another on my PC at the minute) to try that. It seemed to me as if both LO/FC and BS got corrupted somehow, yet only BS is OK now.
