Started DCS after and the Phantom was there so not sure what this was all about

Look closely at that line: the problem is the shortcut you use. It needs to say \bin-mt\DCS.exe with a "\" instead of a "/"

I'm having the same issue. Do you have any ideas on how to fix it?

I ended up restarting my computer, and the installation seems to be running fine now.

Aww.. nice catch , so how is that fixed on our end when the shortcut is showing "J:\DCS\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe"?

It's weird since you also have the "/" vs "\" problem, highlighted in red...

Perhaps the problem then lies with the DCS Updater itself. Did you try running a repair? I also assume you have exclusions for the DCS folder in your AV software?

• Don't use any AV software so that's not it for me anyway.

I'll try the repair but same after restarting it showed it was installed. 

 

Let me ask another question? The folder "DCS_F4E" that contains cache, jester and records folders where is it installed?

Not even Windows Defender? Remember that you need to add exclusions there as well for every game folder you have.

My Jester folder is E:\DCS\Mods\aircraft\F-4E\Jester
As for recordings, I don't remember the exact file path but I think RedKite mentioned it in his YT guide on the subject.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'cache'. This is what my F-4 folder (E:\DCS\Mods\aircraft\F-4E\) looks like:
