Ginsu80 Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Has anyone been able to get the sidewinders to uncage? I am following the directions from the manual: Once the missile's tone changes to signify lock, the pilot can then hold down the ARR button on the grip to allow for Sidewinder self-track (seeker uncage) but I can’t get it to work, I lose tone and the missles go stupid. razo+r Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Not every AIM-9 can be uncaged. It definitly works with the M, which version did you try it with?
Vihurah Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Same issue. Saw a bit about it in a Tricker video and had a very homer-esque why-doesnt-mine-do-that I haven't tested with the Ls and M, but I think aim 9Js and Ps just can't, which is odd since they really should be able to
Phantom12 Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 On older missiles holding the ARR button will uncage the missile but it also blocks tone from the headset. Its intended/correct that way, was mentioned in the discord at one point but its not in the manual yet. Tripped me up the first time too before I remembered.
DD_fruitbat Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) The M's definitely do uncage holding the AAR button in. Edited May 23, 2024 by DD_fruitbat
MysteriousHonza Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 E/J/P are old designs, lacking seam. Sidewinders seeker has one design flaw. Its called NULL, it is blind spot im the middle of seeker where you cant hear tone but it tracks. If you uncage, you pretty much point middle of seeker on target so you lose tone.
