@Swift. A JDAM has 2 modes and that it:
- INS only in the case you've got GPS denied environment
- INS/GPS in all others cases.
Absolute and relative are just a different way to create coordinates. Absolute are most of the time generate by specific personnes and they use specific software and SAT imagery to be able to create TLE 1 TGT location. In DCS the same process is done by create a WPT on the TGT with 0ft AGL elevation.
Relative coordinates are create from an inboard sensors from your own aircraft or a third party. Except for very specific intel aircraft who can extract TLE 1 coordinates, most of the fighter won't be able to do better than TLE 3.
So again, people who say use TGP, FCR or HUD to create better coordinates than using a preplanned WPT, just don't understand how it works.

Im curious where you are getting your info on for this. Because that is not what literally everything I've ever read on this says.

Absolute = At GPS acquisition, GPS pos is compared to INS pos and INS pos is updated to match. Meaning the weapon will hit the target location as the GPS sees it.

Relative = At GPS acquisition, GPS pos is compared to INS pos. The offset between the two is stored and applied to the target location. Meaning the weapon will hit the target location as the INS saw it prior to GPS acq.
