JetCat Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I hope you have a great weekend pilots, there was a small change in boresight that came with the patch. Before the boresight resembled a tunnel of light with three rings in different layers of depth, now the three rings are fixed together and move together when boresighting the IHADSS. Why was the good old tunnel of light I have gotten used too changed? 1
corbu1 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 This change isn‘t new. Was introduced a long time. I guess the video you refer in your first pic isn‘t uptodate? JetCat Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Yes this is an older video that´s why I am curious why the Boresight was changed. I watch a lot Apache videos to learn all features of this simulated masterpiece.

I watch a lot Apache videos to learn all features of this simulated masterpiece. I believe it was changed because it confused people doing the boresight correct. I believe the original one was notch correct replication, but the actual is simpler but also not realistic. Not sure anymore… DCS Version: 2.9.15.9408 Modules: UH-1H - SA342 - KA-50 BS3 - MI-24P - MI-8MTV2 - AH-64D - CH-47F - OH-58D - UH-60L(Mod, n.i.) - OH-6A(Mod, n.i.) - A-10CII - F-16C - F/A-18C - AJS37 - F-14 - MiG-21bis - JF-17 - Mirage F1 - MiG-29A - (prepurchase) - FC2024 -Combined Arms - Supercarrier - NTTR - Normandy2.0 - Channel - Persian Gulf - Syria - SA - Sinai - Afghanistan - Kola - Iraq - Cold War Germany — Waiting for: BO-105 - AH-1G/F(Mod) DCS-Client: 9800X3D, 64GB 6200, RTX3090, 1TB M2 NVMe(win10), 4TB M2 NVMe(DCS), VR VivePro2, PointCTRL, VaicomPro, Wacom Intuos S with VRK v2Beta DCS-DServer: 11600KF, 64GB 3600, GTX1080, 1TB M2 NVMe(win10), 2TB M2 NVMe(DCSDServer), DCS Olympus Simpit: NLR Flightsim Pro Cyclic: TM Warthog Grip with 30cm Extension + VPforce Rhino FFB FW Stick: TM Warthog Grip and Base, Throttle: TM Warthog Pedals: Komodo Sim. with Dampers Collective: VPC Rotorplus+AH-64D Grip Other: NLR HF8, Buttkicker (3*MiniConcert), TotalControls AH64D MPD‘s and EUFD, Alain Dufour’s AH-64 TEDAC, TM MFD, Streamdecks (1*32,3*15,1*6), VPC CP#1
JetCat Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Someone getting confused by aligning three rings should not fly a flight simulator But this was changed not long ago, while using the Apache demo I still had the three realistic rings. Hm maybe I should switch back to the Beta version, a few days ago I still had the ring magic in the cockpit.
ED Team Raptor9 Posted May 25, 2024 ED Team Posted May 25, 2024 @JetCat I don't know what version of DCS you were using but this was indeed changed a long time ago. As was the case with the APU exhaust flame, when things are determined to be inaccurate, they are corrected; such is the case with early access modules. The current implementation is more realistic than the original that you see in early videos, however it still is not completely representative of the real-life BRU reticle. It's just a lower priority for the moment considering other more pressing development tasks. In the post here, I describe how the BRU reticle looks and behaves in real-life. 1 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. DCS Rotor-Head
JetCat Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Most (75%) of the Apache videos on YouTube are from the release month, and now and then I spot an interesting detail that catches my interest because it looks or functions a bit different compared to all the tutorial videos. I love extensive and realistic cockpit preparations and flight planning, that´s why the boresight function is so awesome too, and realistic. So these rings are called "bullseye rings" - I wonder how this looks like in VR. (Too bad I have sold the VR and currently no headset .... the Apache surely is PERFECT in VR....) So the newest bullseye rings version is the most realistic version? Wonderful - a good aim is the best start in the morning. Everyone only thinks about the A-10 as the only "flying cannon" - forgetting that the Apache is one too, even with the same 30mm caliber, but with way more sophisticated almost sniper-like visual zoom and holographic IHADSS overlay targeting technology.

Take a gander at some presentations for the 30x113mm and 30x173mm rounds. It's pretty interesting. Kind of like .45ACP and .45-70 are the same caliber, but with vastly different performance. 1
