Hi Guys,

Well I am well into the first oil campagin but after my retarded wingman decided it would be a good idea to rectally insert a SAM missile I headed back to base after depleating all of my ordinance. Landed then requested a rearm with the default loadout, I also tried tank buster loadout, but nothing happends.

Anyone else been able to rearm if so how? Do you have to land in a specific place of something? I landed the Helo on one of the H ground symbols.

Thanks Mithandra

On FARPs, they must have the necessary vehicles, so if you loaded at an inactive FARP that would be the explanation. If you land on your home FARP, then have you switched the radio to Ground Crew?

It's a knob on the left panel, below the gear lever stuff and above the targeting mode stuff.

EDIT: Also note you have to set the radio back to the previous mode for air communication to get into contact with the tower for takeoff clearance once your pitstop is complete.

On a barely related note, what is the proper procedure for take off? Is there any way to do it that won't result in the ground crew being annoyed at you, or do you just have to switch your radio back so you can't hear them complain? I've tried making sure I tell them to turn off ground power before I take off but that doesn't make any difference. I've even tried requesting take-off clearance over the ground comms but that doesn't help, either. Not that I really thought it would, but still, worth a shot. Is there any way to get them to unplug and back away, or are you forced to take off with the ground crew attached? (Such a shame they're not visible!)

If you request takeoff clearance, they'll know they should disconnect from your chopper.

So proper takeoff procedure after a pit stop is to ask permission to take off from the tower. But to do that you need to switch back to tower frequency.

Well my issue is that I think they still "say" it, it's just that you can't hear them because you've switched frequency.

I just did a quick test as follows:

Start from runway, request ground maintenance to turn off ground power, switch frequency and request take off clearance. Wait for acknowledgement of clearance, switch back to ground crew. Take off. Result: "Hey, what are you doing?"

Land again, switch frequency and request take off clearance, switch back. Take off. Result: nothing heard from ground crew.

Land again, request re-arming, wait for that to complete, switch freq, request take off, wait for ack, switch freq back, take off. Result: "Hey, what are you doing?"

I acknowledge that this is a very trivial non-issue that can easily be solved by simply not setting the radio to the ground maintenance frequency when taking off. I simply wondered if there was some part of proper procedure I was neglecting.

Hm, that's an interesting point that I never checked...

Selecting ground crew freq effectively simulates the ground crew physically plugging in their headsets to the side of the Shark.

When you move the switch to another frequency, they virtually remove their heaphone jacks.

You dont "have" to change to ground crew freq, you can power down the shark and open the door...in this way the ground crew can hear you directly.

OK so basically what is needed is:

1. Land

2. Switch Radio to Ground Crew(Simulates them connecting to the aircraft to chat)

3. When done switch back from ground crew (simulates them disconnecting)

4. Request takeoff from the tower.

Thanks Mithandra

Yup.

They will say "Copy" if they got your request, and after that they'll be working and eventually inform you that they are done.
