jojo Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Quote WRCS mode The main mode to acquire targets is the WRCS mode, in which the LOS is set to the current WRCS target. This usually corresponds to the cursor on the radar screen, but can also be set manually by the WSO. This enables the crew to spot a target, or general target area, by using the radar or entering known coordinates and then slewing the pod to this destination. If no specific target has been inserted, the WRCS usually defaults to the aircraft position, resulting in the pod looking straight down The manual is little bit short here. 1- is it working already ? 2- if yes, how do we do that with Jester from front the pilot seat or jumping into the back seat ? AvroLanc Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Yes it does work. The manual description is a little misleading. The pod can’t be slaved to a an absolute LAT LONG. What you’re doing is using TGT FIND mode and the N/S and E/W offset distances to define a TGT point with reference to either visual or radar offset point. You can use the bombing calculator to calculate those offsets and have jester input them into the WRCS. I recommend you use a VIP first because the radar is a pain to use. When over the VIP, as WSO press FREEZE and INSERT and if all set up correct and pod is in WRCS mode the pod will slave to your pre planned target.
Solution Zabuzard Posted May 29, 2024 Solution Posted May 29, 2024 The Pave Spike is fully implemented indeed. It is just that Jester has not learned how to use the pod much yet. So you have to do these advanced things with a real WSO instead. As AvroLanc describes, the WRCS mode will let the pod look at the current WRCS target. You can set such a target by using the FREEZE/INSERT buttons. You can either create it via OFFSET coordinates to a known position (IP). Or by using the radar offset cursors, provided you can see the target on the radar screen. Latter also allows you to guesstimate a target position quickly if you for example get a relative call like "the targets are roughly 10nm from your position, 30° to the right". Then you can just put your radar offset cursors at 30° right, 10nm out and enter. And boom, your pod will look in the general target area, easy. Now, if you are flying solo with Jester, he supports only the 12-VIS ACQ mode. Allowing you to put your target area on the nose, hitting Jester Context Button and he lets the pod enter TRACK mode. From there on, you can then fine tune the pod yourself (using the provided binds), search for targets, lock them, fire the laser, ... 1
jojo Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 OK, thanks guys 12-VIS is fine Mirage fanatic ! I7-7700K/ MSI RTX3080/ RAM 64 Go/ SSD / TM Hornet stick-Virpil WarBRD + Virpil CM3 Throttle + MFG Crosswind + Reverb G2. Flickr gallery: https://www.flickr.com/gp/71068385@N02/728Hbi
