I just felt I needed to say how much fun I am having with this game. I just did the "ALARM!" mission in the Deployment campaign and I can't say how much I enjoyed it!

So here I am sitting at the loading screen expecting to just lift off and fly north to the new FARP but nooooo I get plopped right into a cold cockpit with explosions and gun fire going off all around me. My first thought in my mind is "oh shit" I then scramble to find a color codded checklist I printed out with a 44 step sequence I created to start in a cold cockpit using the T1-T6 buttons on my X52 using all the SHIFTS,CTRLS, and ALTS on my keyboard as modifiers so to multiply the button uses. About half way rushing through the checklist I realize I did it out of order(held the wrong shift key down first) so I start to panic and say **** it, just get the engines started and clean up the rest of it on my way out.

So im sittin there clicking away... finally get everything running, turn on my NVG's and lift off. I start heading north and clean everything up. I then start to read the radio chatter thats going on between the ground troops(I don't speak Russian).

As im doing that im looking off to my right to see if I can see my wing man but I notice some bright lines heading at me. Some sort of AAA opens up on me, I throw a hard bank left and jink my way away from the threat and continue towards the new FARP. *Phew*

Then I come upon a battle going on below me in a town off to my right. I see some sort of Aircraft fly in fast above the battle(I think it was an Su-25) and pop off illumination flares that are so bright I have to turn my NVG off to just look that way.

So much fun!!! This is also the first game I have played using TrackIR which helps the immersion factor of the whole sim immensely. I just wish I didn't have to hit shift-J every time I get in the cockpit to get it to start shaking.

Thank you so much for this game guys, I really appreciate it.

Oh! One other thing.

As a former C-17 Flying Crew Chief I really like the fact that you talk to maintenance to hook up power and other types of ground activities. MX is such a huge part of aviation I wish it was simulated a little more in todays Sims, as far as the pilot, MX interaction goes.

I can't wait for the next Sim!

Havent had that much time with the sim but anything that challenges me to just get engines started is good in my book. Right now I'm just learning basic flight manuevers and trimming in general. But I have to add that this is the first true flight sim I've owned that used all 6DOF for TrackIr and the result is amazing and it really shines on my projection display.

Thanks to ED for such an awesome sim although it would have been nice to have a working windshield washer resevoir........ j/k of course!

I spent a lot of time just doing the training missions over and over, and writing out button sequences to bind to my joystick before I even tried a real combat mission. I haven't crashed or have been shot down yet in the campaign. I'm sure that will change soon enough :)

Ya what's up with the washer fluid? Stupid crew chiefs need to fill it up.

Have to admit this sim makes all others feel tame, it just hits the sweet spot for me.

i agree i was playing lock on and fsx last night and its just not as satisfying black shark. BS is now the new "bench mark"

Agree with all you guys here. That alarm mission was great, and funny how you bring up the illumination from the Su-25, I thought that was AWESOME!!

I "used to" love FSX. I built a new PC mainly for BS and RoF, and I don't even have FSX loaded. LOL. BS, as a flight sim, is fantastic. If I could fly it in some Photo scenery or Australia FTX I'd be in heaven without firing one weapon. I'm pretty close as is.

I got the DVD a few weeks ago and remember how I was NOT looking forward to the start up sequence. Heh, now, bringing this bird to life in a parking spot is just a joy. I wish more campaign missions started cold and dark. I hear the patch will give you an option. Nice!
