SKYWARRIOR Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Hi, I am new to DCS and have bought a new and highish end spec system with a fast cpu and top end graphics. Its all going through to a Corsair 48" curved screen and is functions very well and gives stunning results EXCEPT Voice attack !! Given I am relatively new to P.C.s as well as I normally use a Mac for my every day stuff I am going to ask some very basic and novice questions if I may please. 1. Windows 11 OS. Do I have windows "Speech recognition on in the background for Voice attack ? or is it completely switched off ? 2. When I do get an instruction recognised and working it firstly put up the blue options panel that would normally appear when you press escape. It then does the function such as raising the speed brake when you click on resume. I have checked for conflicts in the controls panel but cannot see any obvious ones. 3. I checked the Task manager and its using 37 % cpu and around 38% memory so by my reckoning its not doing this because of overload. Then sometimes after actually doing an event it stalls the program DCS completely and one has to revert to task manager to get out of it. 4. I have pointed the commands in the options panel to DCS game and have tried for instance "Half flap " recognised in the edit page but nothing happens. then say Full flap and its unrecognised sometimes but not others but no event takes place whatever the recognition report says. 5. I have tried using completely different words like Half Buttercup etc etc with the same results or lack of . Help would be very much appreciated if possible as I would really like to solve this but cannot have it unreliable or I revert to my "Stream deck " panel and forget it entirely. speed-of-heat Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 If you are just using Voice Attack on it's own i would strongly recommend using VAICOM which might simpliy the process Penecruz/VAICOMPRO-Community: VAICOM PRO for DCS World (github.com) 1) not as such no, its running in the background (you dont have to worry about it unless you havent trained it to recognise you), which i really recommend. 3) not likely a VA problem, 37% of anything on a PC is not really overloaded SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
SKYWARRIOR Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) Hi, Thank you for your reply appreciated. More novice questions I am afraid 1. We have Windows 11 speech recognition running in the background meaning I dont excite it just leave it switched on? 2. Then I have Voice Attack working as before and enter my commands into V/Aattck window as before 3. Viacom is then downloaded and installed as another background helper or it takes over from Voice Attack as the main interface and delivers actions in DCS in a window or panel. I have not yet downloaded Viacom until I understand the answers to these questions so I dont know if there is an instruction panel 4. Thats three systems to make this all happen or have I gotten this wrong I suspect ? David P.S how do I put my system spec in my message windows at the bottom of each panel please Edited June 10, 2024 by SKYWARRIOR PNY RTX 4080 Super 16G ARGB OC 3XS Gamer 4070 Ti (AMD) **3XS** AMD R7 7800X3D OEM TRA 16GB SCAN 3XS USB3 FLASH DRIVE *3XS*ASUS TUF B650 PLUS WIFI Win11 Home 1TB Solidigm P41 Plus M.2 3XS 2TB Solidigm P41 Plus M.2 SSD 2x32GB Cors Veng 560 AMD DDR5 3XS CORSAIR 12+4pin PCIe Gen 5 Corsair RM1000x Full Mod PSU FD Corsair oled bendy screen, Orion F16 stick Orion throttle,PTO 2 panel 3 WW DDI
mkel2010 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Make sure you've gone through the Windows Speech Recognition training, at minimum. Once you've done that, you can turn off the Speech Recognition app while running VoiceAttack. VoiceAttack and Vaicom serve two different purposes. VA is for using voice to control in-game functions such as aircraft systems and Easy Comms menus. Vaicom lets you interact with AI wingmen, airborne controllers, etc. by voice. If both are installed, you'll have at least two separate profiles in VA: the Vaicom profile and the profile you created for your aircraft. You'll need to go into VA settings and make sure you set the correct setting to incorporate all your profiles together. With Vaicom installed, you'll need to configure multiple hat switches on a joystick to cover different radio channels whereas with just VA, you can configure a single switch. Bottom line is you don't need Vaicom to use VA, but you do need VA to use Vaicom. My suggestion would be to get VA setup and working before you try to get Vaicom working as the setup for Vaicom is much more complicated. 2

MAXsenna Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Thank you very much for the concise reply. I will now follow the advice an hope I can get it all going at last DavidOne more thing David. The VoiceAttack manual is huge, but very good. The VAICOM manual is pure excellence, and is well worth a read. Both will tell you have to setup VoiceAttack correctly.Do the initial Microsoft Speech Recognition at least three times. I did it twenty. It's boring while as a non native English speaker it did me well. Also if you ever change microphone, you need to do the training again, so it's recommended to make a profile in the Speech Recognition named according to your current microphone.Cheers!
