Hi,

Sorry for posting a Bug report here, but the Orbx forum has no way to attach a track or video when reporting.

For some reason, the VOR station at Bodo cant be used when testing the VOR receptor of the F-4E, while the VOR at Kiruna passes the test with no problem. Range isn't the issue, as my aircraft is on the ramp at Bodo, here is a video where I try unsuccessfully to test the VOR receptor using Bodo's frequency, but using Kiruna´s it tests fine right away. Track attached.

I have not yet learned to do VOR Navigation on the Phantom, but as soon as I'm able to, I will try it for navigation too.

Regards,

Eduardo

I just tested both VORs using the C-101, and they seem to work fine.

Try starting in the air 20-30 miles away from Bodo. Just in case the Phantom is "filtering out" a very close (<1 nm) station, or in case you forgot to press some obscure button.

If I place the aircraft at Kiruna, it can test correctly with that airbase VOR in spite of its proximity. Will try to see if I can receive at Kiruna the VOR signal from Bodo, thanks for posting 👍

Hi, thanks a lot for taking time to test this 🙂

What I'm trying to do, is the pre-start check that the Phantom's VOR receptor has built-in, so the aircraft isn't in flight yet at this point 🙂

Seems like this is the case .. just tested, and placing the Phantom at Kiruna, I can do the test using Bodo's VOR (and also using Kiruna's VOR), but when the aircraft is at Bodo I can't do the same

Not the case, I have the proper procedure written down and I'm following each step with utmost care ... just in case you would like to take a look at the procedure, its this one (on my DCS trigger documentation format):

Spoiler

VOR (needs GP)

•    VOR/ILS control panel - SET and Test.

The VOR/ILS equipment, provides precise bearing and course deviation information from a transmitting ground station. Additionally, the aircraft is able to use precision landing approach and descent capabilities at ILS-equipped airfields.

Guidance information from the VOR/ILS system is displayed to the pilot on the ADI and HSI, while the WSO uses a BDHI. The VOR/ILS function is enabled on these displays when VOR/ILS is selected on the Bearing/Distance and on the Navigation Mode Selector.

VOR 2

Set the VOR receptor, as follows:

a. Volume control knob - AS DESIRED. This knob serves also as POWER switch, when turning it clockwise, make sure to turn it in order to power up the receptor.

VOR 3

b. Marker volume knob - AS DESIRED. This knob adjust the audio volume of the Marker Beacon receptor.

Marker Beacons are radio transmitters positioned along the landing approach path. The system will audibly signal and illuminate the Marker Beacon light as it passes over each one.

Depending on the specific setup at an airport, there can be:

•    Outer Marker: Identified by a low-pitched, continuous tone.
•    Middle Marker: Recognized by a higher-pitched, alternating audio tone. This marker indicates a closer proximity to the runway.
•    Inner Marker: Characterized by a very high-pitched tone or a series of high-pitched dots. This marker is not always present but, when it is, signifies an even closer position to the runway end.

(Press [Spacebar] to continue)

VOR 4
PILOT_VOR_LEFT_DRUM_ROLLER: 1452 (0.69-0.71 = 115)
PILOT_VOR_RIGHT_DRUM_ROLLER: 1455(0.19-0.21 = 20)

c. Frequency – For this mission, we will tune Kiruna's VOR, its frequency is 115.20 MHz.

The Frequency Knob has two controls, its outer ring selects the decimal part of the frequency, whereas the inner knob selects the integer part. Use both to select the 115.20 MHz value on the display.

VOR 5

d. VOR/MKR Beacon test switch – Press and hold to TEST

This button allows us to test the receptor, employing the signal from the VOR station shown on the display, but before the test you must setup the following conditions:

VOR 6

d.1 On the Navigation Selector Panel, set:

•    BRG/DIST to VOR TAC. In this setting, magnetic and relative bearing to the VOR station are displayed by the HSI bearing pointer.

•    MODE to VOR/ILS. On this Mode, if a VOR frequency is selected, the HSI Course Set knob is used to set the VOR radial. Once set, the HSI Deviation Indicator will show current deviation from the selected course.

VOR 7
PILOT_HSI_COURSE_SET_HUNDREDS: 676 (0.29-0.31)
PILOT_HSI_COURSE_SET_TENS: 675 (0.09-0.11)
PILOT_HSI_COURSE_SET_ONES: 674 (0.49-0.51)

d.2 Next, use the COURSE SET knob of the HSI to select a course of 315°.

 VOR 8

d.4 Now you can press, and hold, the VOR/MKR TEST button:

•    On the HSI, the course deviation indicator, should move to center (maximum allowable error  ±4°).
•    The "to-from" indicator should indicate TO.
•    The bearing pointer on the HSI should swing to 315°.
•    And, the marker beacon light illuminates briefly.

Press [Spacebar] once you have finished the test.

Thanks a lot for the help 👍
