Hi,

I have started using trackIR (using webcam) and it works fantastic but sometimes I don't need to have it on and I toggle it off with shortcut keys from the software and it does go off but it does not let me control the camera with normal keyboard controls or Dpad.

I have to fully close the game and close all tracking softwares then restart the game and then I can control the camera manually. Is there a fix to this?

The game assumes that if you have head tracking you won’t need the other view controls. If you get used to the head tracking I think you’ll realize you don’t need them. There is a setting to turn off TrackIR in the external views if that’s what you’re looking to do.

There is no toggle for "off." I assume you mean "pause." The TrackIR software is still active in Pause mode but it isn't sending position updates to the game in that mode. I often pause TrackIR when I'm trying to create a particular view to memorize using one of the DCS snap views. I do not experience the lack of camera control that you mention. But perhaps that is because I do not use the default bindings in TrackIR. I map the pause function to the Keypad minus key. I map the "center" function to a joystick button. And I disable the other TrackIR bindings. Your inability to control the camera suggests that you have duplicated key bindings.

I have set some keys to pause/centre/toggle TracIR in the software but still the normal keybinding for camera movement does not become active unless the game is restarted without TrackIR.

Why would you need the view key commands with TrackIR? I think you’d be double mapped since those view commands are essentially what TrackIR does.

Because sometimes you want to create a fixed view in order to save it as a snapview or other default. You can't do that while TrackIR is reporting head position updates to DCS. Some of the view commands are also helpful even when using TrackIR. The zoom commands for example. Or the commands to rotate the F2 view.

It would help if you would provide more detail. What are your enabled TrackIR hotkey assignments? And which view commands don't work for you when TrackIR is running. Since view commands are often module specific, identify the module too.

Oh sure. I just turn off TrackIR if I want to set up something like the default zoom level or F1 view position. It’s something I’ll only do once so it’s not much of a bother.

So by default the Dpad on my joystick or the numpad keys on keyboard should rotate my camera around. But if I have my TrackIR software running in the background these keys are totally disabled even if I completely disable the TrackIR unless I close the game and reopen it without TrackIR software being running on the background. However I found a workaround for it now, I have set a key for "lock" camera in my TrackIR settings so if I wanna hold my view on the target pod to see it better I just do this and it pretty much helps.

If you use official TrackIR software with the official camera there seems to be some communication between the TrackIR client when you pause TrackIR that tell DCS that TrackIR is paused so DCS re-enables mouse/keyboard look until TrackIR is unpaused.

But I don't know what this communication is and no other tracking clients I've tried (Opentrack, FaceTraickNOIR and Tobii Gamehub) does it so with these there's no way to temporarily enable mouse/keyboard look without going into controls and disabling the headtracker.

Funny thing is. If you pause OpenTrack in the Chinook you can use the mouse to look around as the crew chief, and the gunners. So it seems the coding is different between modules.
