Yeah, the Virpil sale and the racing car shifting feature were tempting me, but I see so many issues, including full bricking of the device, that I'll pass for now.

Still hard for me to look past Moza, given the desktop mounting options and racing sim possibilities, but they seem to need at least 6 more months to get the software in order.

@avgyst Is the AB9 base detected but not the joystick ?

I received my Z-axis extension and tried installing it. Afterwards, Moza Cockpit still detects the AB9 but not the joystick.

Upon examination, the center black cable connector of the AB9 is no longer flush with the surrounding surface. It is recessed approximately 1/4 in and cannot connect with the cable connector of the joystick. It is currently under RMA.

Yes, it is difficult dealing with the language barrier and time difference of Moza's support. If you have the same issue, I would suggest taking a picture showing the gap with markups to highlight it. It's how I was able to convey the issue.

To everyone else, I would recommend to not change joysticks frequently or at all if possible. When attaching the joystick or z-axis extension, I verified the connectors were inserted correctly before mounting the joystick or extension. But somehow the cable in the base was pushed down.

That's not great, since with the shifter function, some people may want to switch between a joystick and shifter regularly.

Just a harsh reminder most new cars these days have no actual force feedback... Okay, back to topic.

I find some how the current version has profiles Adaptive Centering Adaptation turned on by default, of which the stick always tries to return to center makes life very awkward. Turning it off is very much recommenced.

Remember GTA I and II?

They did not even used the Viggen grip BTW, not forgiven!
I always wondered why iDrive became a stupid wheel and not just multiple hats on the shifter! After all the BMW logo is a propeller!
And SAAB could really had led the way ahead of its time IMHO!

In DCS I get quite good FFB most of the time, with occasional drop outs, with the Apache, Hind and the Gazelle.

The Kiowa is very hit and miss but most of the time there no telemetry feedback, ie; translation lift, engine and rotor vibration, etc.

The Chinook gives pretty much nothing except a small bump when the wheels touch down (maybe as it's a work in progress the telemetry output isn't finalized).

Curious to know what others have found with the helicopters in DCS?

Posted

Not limited to Moza though: the most noticeable moments stick feedback I get for helicopters are:

  1. Stalling
  2. Over speed or close to
  3. Transition

Frankly, it ain't much, may be due to my setting. If you want more grandiose immersion, I would recommend some sort of bass shaker.

Try altering order of the line entries in the export.lua, and I assume you've already have changed the PTT buttons?

Also for whatever reason it seems (on mine at least) that the comment line 'default moza algorythm (sic)' needs to be left as is, as much as I want to correct it

So would that imply that the problem lies with the telemetry, or lack of, coming from DCS as opposed to the the Moza software? Are other devices like the  VPForce Rhino similarly affected?

No, the telemetry is fine, (maybe not with the Chinook as it's pretty new). I guess the correct effects are not implemented in the Moza software as they work with other haptic devices.
