markturner1960 Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 As title, has anyone here managed to get these working correctly with VR? Mine work great in 2D, but if I run in VR, instead of the displays showing the MFD exports, they show the cockpit, my main monitor displays the sky "above" the cockpit. I use a widescreen monitor which is 5120 x 1440, and have the 3 screens set in windows to the side of the main monitor in a row, so the resolution DCS runs at is 7424 x 1440. ( to run the MFD screens in 2D I have not changed this resolution when running in VR. I did have the special option for teh monitor mirror checked to run DCS system resolution. I tried unchecking this but it did not seem to help. Even though I use VR, it would be great to be able to see the screens exported as my headset easily allows me to see outside, a facility I use a lot..... Is there a way to make this happen? 1 System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

You will probably get a better answer if you ask this in the VR section Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
markturner1960 Posted July 1, 2024 Author Posted July 1, 2024 (edited) Thanks, I do have an update...after I restarted DCS with the "use system resolution" unchecked, I got the following when running in VR: So thats different from what I first reported....better, although I have no exported MFD's, they are just showing my desktop on the 3 screens..... speed-of-heat Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 i think this might be the issue, natively DCS does not allow the export of the MFD's if VR is turned on , you have to configure it to be switched on "In order to make MFD export work with VR you need "VR_allow_MFD_out_of_HMD = true" in the monitor config.lua alongside the configuration generated by Helios. Other DCS Settings required for this to work is - DCS VR Options: VR Mirror Options - "Use DCS System Resolution". this is of course related to Helios, but, i wonder if it will help you too? markturner1960 Posted July 1, 2024 Author Posted July 1, 2024 Interesting, thanks......any guesses where I should place this and in what format in the .lua file? ( Presumably the winwing .lua file that is selected within DCS options for teh MFDs to be exported? speed-of-heat Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 sorry, i honestly don't know but the source of the comment is here, i just remembered seeing it, it's not something i have done myself as my headset doesn't allow passthrough MFD export for VR · Issue #742 · HeliosVirtualCockpit/Helios (github.com) SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
daddio007 Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 @markturner1960 Hey Mark! Did you ever get this working? I was looking at buying the Winwing USB screens (I have the rest of the Winwing MFD setup) in anticipation of getting MR going with the new VR1 headset. It does look doable via Helios which I have not used since going to VR several years ago. I do recall at that time some performance drag with the lua files but no idea if that's still the case. But if you are blazing a trail I am happy to follow! Let me know! Thanks! 1
