LastRifleRound Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 (edited) First try, I get sent to the first checkpoint, report to overlord I understand they clear me hot. Wipe everyone out. I hear nothing. Pop on labels, no enemies in sight, can't see anyone left, no one ever says anything. I wander over to patrol 4 and then 5 and then bullseye, nothing (radio properly set to 135.3 the whole time) The next two times I make it to axeman, all the way to the part where infantry are closing in across the river. He calls for gun, but unfortunately trees in DCS are now hard cover an invulnerable, so it is impossible to take most of them out with the gun. You used to be able to strafe their position and they'd break off, but now the mission asks you to kill every....single...last....one of them. Which I did, with a combination of rockets for the ones in the trees and guns for the ones lagging behind out in the open. I pop on labels, everyone's dead. Nothing. Can't radio anyone (Yes, I hit spacebar and did the read back and got the cleared hot), no one says anything, mission won't proceed. I noticed my last attempt when hitting mic switch forward, instead of getting UHF, it's pulling up the interphone. I checked the control mapping while still in the mission to make sure I didn't change anything, and nope, HOTAS is set properly. For some reason trying to mic switch forward in the mission now brings up the interphone. Could have something to do with it I guess. Also, the only option for comms is ATC. All other communication options are missing. Good thing they combined branches so main existing content wouldn't be broken! That'd be annoying..... I've got 6 hours in this damned thing now between all my attempts and until I hear back I really don't feel like bothering again. Edited July 12, 2024 by LastRifleRound
ghostskills82 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Sorry, but check if the latest update activated 'easy comms' for you. I don't think that's your problem, but maybe the comms issues are coming from that. Since update 2.9.6, I have to turn off 'easy comms' again every time I start DCS... hope this helps you Jage nicht, was du nicht töten kannst.
baltic_dragon Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Yes, please double check the easy comms which is usually a culprit. I think the trees are no longer that difficult after the last patch. I'll look at it as soon as I can - I just moved to Poland after 19 years and still didn't manage to set up my office / flying rig. For more information, please visit my website. LastRifleRound Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 The trees are messing up the shots for sure. It was on easy comms after the update. I fixed it, but it happened again. I sometimes hear nothing but static through the FM radio. Is it possible the radio update ED psuhed requiring LOS messed with this? I'm high up and over the valley most of the time, but if axeman is next to a building or something maybe it's killing comms
Priest Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 I'm having the same issue with this mission. Easy comms being switched back on by the update was definitely causing problems figured that one out, but I'm still get stuck at the part in the mission when Axeman calls in a gun run on the troops crossing the river.
LastRifleRound Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 (edited) I had the idea that maybe with the new ARC 210, that channel 34.3 should be entered on the 210 instead of the dedicated FM radio, so I flew again with that set. Everything went fine until, once again, enemy infantry attacks across the river. The gun does nothing to them. Additionally, they appear to spawn/despawn oddly, so making one pass will never kill all of them or even most of them. You MUST use rockets to score hits. I popped full labels on so I could closely monitor what was happening with the enemy and, at one point, I thought everyone was dead, though Axeman didn't say anything. All of a sudden, more infantry appeared literally out of thin air and started attacking again. Unfortunately, while this is effective at killing the enemy infantry it will take many passes, and you almost CERTAINLY will end up with a blue on blue, as when the infantry "respawned" they were on the other side of the tree line crossing the river. I accidentally blue-on-blued one Georgian ranger (identified in the debrief as #3). Is this guy Axeman? There were radio calls after that one of "don't how much longer" etc. Once I killed all the enemy infantry, but never heard anything from anyone ever again after flying an additional 10 minutes with 0 activity. I think this part needs to be cut out or the trigger has to be added that firing the gun in the correct area will automatically thwart the attack, as it is obvious the DCS engine cannot handle an engagement of this type in anything approaching a reasonable manner. baltic_dragon Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Thanks guys! We're working on the radio issues and I also have a very dedicated beta-tester who will be going through the campaign and checking your issues / reporting anything he may find. I've moved to DCS as my full - time work now and while I am finishing to set up in Poland, once I do I'll have much more time to make sure each and every mission in my old campaigns work as they should and that I move faster on my future ones! 2 For more information, please visit my website. Priest Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I didn't see an update in the changelog specifically for this issue, but I attempted the mission again this evening and was able to complete it without issue. Good stuff!

Good stuff! How timely that I just came across this post when you replied only 10 hours ago. Unfortunately I'm still getting the same bug. Every red is dead and there's no way to communicate with anyone. I've just been orbiting the area hoping for something to change but no luck so far Do you remember doing anything differently this time? Thanks!
Priest Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 What I did do different was order my wingman to anchor up above the mountain ridge line before taking my own aircraft down into the valley to attack. I did this to keep him from crashing into a mountain like he always seemed to do eventually but I wonder if doing this changed anything. Comms are a bit choppy down in the valley, maybe having the wingman up above (and alive) helped comms get through and kept me from missing a trigger? Also suggest if you get stuck just press spacebar even if not prompted and see if that pushes the mission along. Unless your using keyboard you can un-map spacebar from the gun so your not wasting ammo. 1
