Hawkeye60 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 The Good First off, the new launcher is a wonderful addition IMHO It gives you all things DCS in a single spot With links to all the sites, and other important info Bravo! The Loading times, once you click run, are fairly spiffy This is on a Fast i7 and 1080T! 11GB with 32 GB ram The bad When I exit, I go to a black screen No matter if mods are used or not This black screen can last from as little as 30 sec up to 2 minutes or more ! Sometimes it seems to never exit. I can three finger salute it and get out when patience is low! A clean new last patch install Happened the patch before as well The Ugly The patch needs some love! A few broken things to fix. Overall, Great Start into 2024 ! The new Features are very welcome! Thank you! Must have been a tremendous amount of work! looking forward to more! 1 "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."
FusRoPotato Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 (edited) This is almost like some kind of feedback haiku. I think DCS has some improper/missing cleanup methods for closing out some lua stuff. For example, used to be able to hang DCS on exit just by leaving a socket open. That's probably still the case, so it's a good idea to go through your export.lua and make sure all the mods using it have all their log files and sockets closed on exit. Many of them like DTC and TheWay don't which can cause that failure to exit. There seems to be a lot of new lua errors with their recent patch that might be leaving behind similar components containing blocking operations. Edited July 13, 2024 by FusRoPotato 1
