can't create a target point when looking at an area i want to designate via hmd in cpg with the store update switch (auto ranging is on)...it will only create it as a flyover point directly underneath me.

I am not aware of such a function via the HMD, only via the TADS/cursor. So laser a target, press the corresponding button to create tgt.

I suppose you could Sight Select TADS, with GHS as your acquisition source, slave the TADS and look around.  When you see something interesting, squeeze the laser and STORE as a TGT point?  I don't think I have ever tried it.

I think what happened is the video got it wrong...as if i use the same method BUT simply use the store button it works...where as he states using the update button it only gives a fly over. It was the grim reapers tsd, nav,SA and targeting functions tutorial.

I just tested it in DCS, and it is behaving correctly for me, in accordance with the DCS AH-64D Early Access Guide pages 242-245.

Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man.

Just to be clear...you're using the update store button? Or store button?

Pressing the STORE/UPT switch to the STORE position on the left TEDAC grip. The UPT position is only for performing an INU position update, which is not modeled yet.

If you are asking about the NOW command on the MPD, this only stores a fly-over point, per the EA Guide pages I stated above.

Ok I think we are talking two different things here...not a fly over point, but a ranged tgt point....ie looking left out the cockpit window and marking a tgt point off in the distance via hmd...but I think were on the same page....i think the video meant to say store not update:.......i think.....

Yes, the Update position has nothing to do with storing points via any sight.

I brought up the NOW button because you had mentioned a second store button, which is the only other store button command besides the STORE/UPT switch on the TEDAC.

But yeah, you can use the TEDAC STORE button to store a WP or TG via the HMD or TADS, or a TG point using FCR.
