Nervenklaus Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I am new on this simulation, I just noticed that Tomcat bounces a lot when doing field landing after the latest update. I am on the right AOA. No throttle back when close to the ground and no flare, sink rate is 700ft/m just like landing on the carrier. I can see the my speed is 143-145kn in F2 view. It's a bit too fast? But AOA is correct. I haven't tried it on carrier yet after the update. Curious anyone here noticed that.
scommander2 Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 (edited) Speed break? The following YouTube vido may be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYFVqEmfcWQ&t=30s Edited July 19, 2024 by scommander2 Spoiler Dell XPS 9730, i9-13900H, DDR5 64GB, Discrete GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, 1+2TB M.2 SSD | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + TPR | TKIR5/TrackClipPro | Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box | Win 11 Pro
RustBelt Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Also do you have Antiskid/Spoiler set to both? The main gear are kind of pogo sticks on purpose to aid in bolter go around. On shore you want those boards to come out on touch down to dump your lift. Or you need to flare because on land you have the runway to spare, and don’t have arresting gear to nail you to the deck when you slam down.

Nervenklaus Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) Have no idea on what the gross weight exactly is. But the plane is not heavy, just 2 sidewinders, no aux fuel tanks, internal fuel is about 7000lbs. I figured out that I had too much residual power setting of my engines and keep using DLC to force the plane descending at 700fts. No bouncing at all after the engines' power being reduced a little with touch down speed at around 130kn. The available instruction keeps emphasizing that you are right on the speed if the AOA is correct. But seems it's not 100% true. Thank you guys again for the great help. They are designed to absorb the shock and significantly reduce the rebound. The last thing you want is the jet being blasted back into the air by the "pogo stick" and totally confusing the air/ground logic. Cheers, John 3
