reported AWACS making wrong calls

Hi,
i have been noticing for a while now that AWACS does not do any flanking calls (anymore) , and often it calls targets as "hot" when it should be cold.

The fact that I was unable to find other people reporting on this makes me think i am going nuts.   

single player / offline

In the attached file the enemy aircraft is flying first perpendicular (roughly), then clearly away from me and the awacs calls it as "hot" , the "flanking" seems to be missing?
then i chase it, it keeps flying away from me, AWACS still calls it hot.
