Tez Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I saw topic Installation Error: BlackShark: Launcher.exe - Unable To Locate Component. Too complicated solutions are suggested. Everything is much simpler. Roche could you try just reinstalling/updating your graphics card drivers (it's interesting that in most cases it's enough just to reinstall them). BTW it's written in the FAQ. Roche Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 I tried that and got this mesage from Nvidia, so I am trying to see if DELL can assit me on getting the drivers for my Nvidia Quadro FX 350 laptop. Do you have a better idea? Thanks for your help. In any case if I do get the drivers updated, I should jjust reinstall my game and it will work? or is there something else.? Product Current Installed Driver 83.13 Latest Driver Update NVIDIA Quadro FX 350M83.13The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site. The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates must come from the notebook manufacturer. Additionally, the desktop GeForce graphics drivers will not install on Geforce M series and Quadro M series notebook GPU's [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
yehuda Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You should be able to find updated drivers at this site: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com
Roche Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Thanks yehuda.. Just installed drivers update that I found on DELL with my Service Tag for Nvidia Quadro FX 350M, drivers version 156.83-XP WHQL A05 whatever that means.. and unfortunely it didn't work... same two errors after unistalling it and installing it again for the 13th time now. I installed it on C:\Eagle Dynamics\K50, ;cause maybe it had something to do with the route the game installed, I checked my registry but could'nt find anything related to K50 or DCS just Lock On, updated drivers for my BIOS Motherboeard as well.. just in case it had something to do with that. So, I am pretty much screwed...just getting the idea on my head that my DCS Black Shark is not going to work at least in this laptop, I would uninstall XP and make a big deal but I can't do that. Please Help, what can I do? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Roche Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 I feel like I am wirting to my self. Even thought I install the game on C:\Eagle Dynamics\K50C the installation program still makes an empty folder on C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics. I tried installing Nvidia Drivers version 156.19 just to see if they work... Doesn't work. Does someone exactly which drivers should I have installed? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Panzertard Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Which OS? Did you ever do any reinstall of DX? If so - for Vista / Win 7 it may have negative consequences? (Builtin DX versions). I'm not sure how to even fix a corrupt DX in those OS'es. If XP, thats a good thing to do - and should have fixed some of the DX issues. UAC settings; to ensure your DX/Game installation have been able to do the proper adjustments? Again, UAC and Video drivers - not sure if that can be an issue sometimes, but we shouldnt rule it out completly. Other permission related issues? You do have administrative permission with your account, right? Hm, more suggestion - disk croslinked files / indexes on the NTFS? Diskcheck c: (and d: etc) for problems. Or in commandprompt; CHKDSK C: /F Overclocking (you have a laptop, so no O/C there I guess)? If O/C, turn it off. These are the few things I can come up with on the top of my mind. ;) NINJA EDIT; Internet Proteciton software? Antivirus? Security software blocking your installations (of either BS or the drivers?) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Tez Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Roche, did you uninstall old drivers before installing new version? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] =653=Tez
Roche Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 Yes Tez, but only when I installed the first drivers updates that I found ver. 156.19, I will try removing everything related to drivers now, and reinstall BS, I only did it with the Windows Add/Remove Program feature,.. Do you think I should get a Driver Cleaner remover program or something? can you recommend me one, free of course. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Fudd Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Roche, It sounds like you dont have DirectDraw and Direct3D Acceleration enabled. It could be two possible things or a combiniation of both. One, Direct X 9.0C did not install correctly or your nVidia dirvers are outdated. I checked nVidia's site you can download 185.85 relased on May 7th http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_fx_notebook_winxp_185.85_whql.html, which is the latest driver. It may not be approved by Dell so make sure you have a good recovery point incase you need to revert back to last known good configuration. After you install 185.85, go to run, type dxdiag. Press save information and save it as .txt file. Copy and paste the information from the text file here and we can help you find the issue. -Fudd The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
Roche Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 Thanks Fudd,, I tried removing all left overs of Nvidai drivers with Nvidia Nasty driver removal that I found on http://www.overclock.net/faqs/12466-info-nvidia-driver-cleaning-guide.html, I folowed up their steps and tried to tried to get rid of version 8.3.1.3, and installed the version 156.83 (6.14.11.5683) over what i thought was a clean Nvidia driver installation, but It didnt work. Same error same message. I will download 185.85 try it out and save the dialog for you guys. Thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Roche Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 I tried installling 185.85 form Nvidia...I unistalled first all old drivers from Nvidia from the control panel and from the device manager (not sure what's the difference between this removals) and cleaned all left overs with a program called Nvidia Nasty Files removal according to this thread http://www.overclock.net/faqs/12466-info-nvidia-driver-cleaning-guide.html. I cleaned left overs for drivers 156.83 and original drivers 83.13 I got a Message from the setup wizard "The Nvidia Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit" So installing the 185.85 doesn't work.. unless there is some other way. I am stuck with drivers 156.83 unless someone knows another Dell Precision M65, XP SP3 with a Quadro FX 350M drivers compatible. This is the dxdiag. that I saved with the 156.83 drivers installed: can put it on one sinlge reply so I will put it separatly. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 5/15/2009, 12:02:03 Machine name: xxxxx Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Dusty Rhodes Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Let the program install to the default location. Let it install DX for you. Is this a DL version or a DVD version? You took care of the drivers so that is not an issue. Just thinking out loud here. Sometimes programs don't like to be placed other then their default locatoin so try that and see if that works. Roche Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 DVD... cool packing by the way,, it took me like ten minutes to open it becasue I was afraid to mess up the box and cover, and it had like a meter of tape on it. At first I let it install the game on the default folder C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\K50, later in another thread I read that It might be a good idea to place it directly under C: so I installed it on C:\Eagle Dynamics\K50, just in case but it didn't work, I tried installing it as C:\K50.. same story.. :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Roche Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 Unfortunely this is the only one I have. I have a piece of &^%$& CPU, with 512 Ram no internet connection, viruses, a humming CPU case, no audio, and a 19" CRT screen... Iv'Been really thinking of buying a new HP Laptop since this Black Shark fiasco started. I will leave now.. very sad by the way 'cause I wont be playing Black Shark this weekend. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Roche Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 This is the only one I have, and I only get like 7 activations. I can see in the dxdiag report that in the tab where it shows you the list of DirectXfiles it doesnt show a d3dx9_38.dll file? Could it be that the game is not installing this .dll file? Can I download it somewhere? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Panzertard Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hello, Roche. I can see that you haven't been able to resolve your problem yet. Just a bit of advice from an old tosser. :) If I were in this position I think I would have considered trying the game on another computer, even tough it means a bit more work (activations, deactivations, intallations etc). All things considered, you are trying to run this game on a laptop with older drivers - it shouldn't (in all fairness) be an issue if you have all the latest drivers and enough system resources, but you are in a grey zone there. Or it's rather hard to tell if you're in the green zone :) Good luck, buddy :) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Roche Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 Thanks Panzer. I realize that intalling it on this old DELL laptop after everything I've done is simply not going to work,.. I decide to get a new laptop so I am just waiting to have the guts and kill my savings, I hope that buying a new decent new piece of hardware will make my game work. I will look for a good alternative on how to unistall and deactivate my Lock On FC from here so I can move everything there. Thanks. =) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Does it have to be a new laptop? If you really have decided to go for a new machine you can make considerable savings through a well-planned purchase of a stationary computer - especially if you feel confident enough in assembling it yourself. Panzertard Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Some good advice from Eth there. :) But I guess it depends on what you plan to use your computer for, study, work, entertainment. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Roche Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 Yes actually it has to be a laptop so I can use it for study and work, I have assembled rigs myself in the past and it's defenitely cheaper. Thanks, for the advice, :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I'm being a bit of a broken record here (apologies for that), but you could always keep the old laptop for things that require portability and use a stationary as a dedicated gaming rig. However, since I have previously worked in a job where almost every workday was finished at a hotel, I do fully understand that sometimes a stationary would just be borderline useless. I do however have several friends that have very good experience of rockdirect.com 's laptops. I was going to buy one of those but I was pre-ordering a future model that got delayed so ended up impulse-purchasing a (still nice) HP Pavilion - that in spite of being almost two years old does still play DCS:BS quite passably. I would personally caution against Dell laptops though. I have only bad experience of them - though they are admittedly relatively cheap.
