Everything was fine until almost arrriving in Beirut when marauder started to turn right to flight to the airport. when he was almost aligning with runway 16 he started to climb and turn west.

The MARAUDER doesn't land in Beirut, the Knight simply tells it to land, it takes off and climbs towards the ocean. Back to 30,000ft.

This is the second time this has happened.

I simply fly wing on its left wing, and put the MASTER ARM in OFF.

What am I doing wrong?

Probably nothing. Last update broke A LOT of AI behaviours, so this is probably that. Not sure if I'll be able to fix this or if we need to wait for ED, but I will certainly try.

@baltic_dragon on this same issue, now I cannot use the comms menu after getting my first vector from Knight on joining at Bulls.  Didn't have this issue yesterday on the same mission.  Message to acknowledge hangs there and wont let me do anything else.  Appreciate this is probably another in a long line of DCS issues

I had the same problem on this mission happen to me today. Just before getting on final for runway 16 the IL-76 turned west and started climbing. I followed him and he got up to fl250 and I tried to gun him a few times to no avail. Finally, I decided to hit him with a winder and that got his attention. He returned to Beruit, landed on runway 16, and I got the go-ahead to RTB. Hopefully might be a temporary solution for anyone who reads this until it gets fixed. I didn't want to hit him with an amraam as I figured that would for sure destroy him. As it was he was limping back to Beruit at 150-160 knots. I got a 100 score on the mission doing this.

It looks like in current DCS version the easy comms is being enabled by default after each run of the game, make sure it is set to OFF before running any of the missions. Let me know if that is the case. Most likely the launcher always turns it on by default.

Confirmed. As the -76 turns and starts to climb away, I put a few rounds in the engine (fire/smoke from engine) and it immediately turned to land at the nearest airfield, which happens to be Beirut. Good call.

Will (try to) fix it. As you can imagine everything worked well until it stopped with one of the patches, but AI is in a pretty dismal state right now unfortunately...

I'm working on it, though on my end he lands normally. This may be something that was bugged and then internally fixed (I am using a testing branch). We're trying to figure this out and if it is OK, the update should be out soon.

I checked and he lands normally on my end. Did some tweaks and waiting for confirmation if it helped.

I've spent a few hours trying to fix it, but had no luck - the damn AI would just do some weird things and then refuse to land. For next patch I simply swapped Marauder with a brand new aircraft just before the approach (I know, not very elegant) which seems to work until I find a proper solution (or ED changes something, as this part of the mission used to work without any issues until 2 patches ago). Will keep you posted and let me know if my workaround works once it is out.

Thanks. Don't sweat it bro, there is something deeply satisfying about firing a sidewinder at him after all his antics.  It's a great campaign.

Haha 🙂 I have a workaround plugged in for the next patch and if it is delayed I will submit a fixed version of the mission.
