Jetliner Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Hey everyone, I came here to give this little guy one last chance. I was writing my for sale post on the forum just moments ago but felt there has to be a reason these things are so popular. I got one today, strapped it to my racing rig and tried it out. The effects had a slight lag to them (like shifting kicks, rumble strips etc) that it immediately made it feel cartoony and like a gimmicky carnival ride. I was bummed, but figured the effects in DCS are less "instantaneous" so I moved it to my flight rig and fired up the P51. Same feeling, gimmicky carnival ride. Its like I strapped some Xbox controllers to my rig, its just various levels of vibration? I dont feel the plane aerodynamics any more than the visuals tell me, the landing gear and touch down effects don't offer any sort of convincing "punch" and the machine guns don't even produce an effect despite being set to 100% in HaptiConnect. I didnt really want a product I'd have to sit around for hours tuning for each plane when I already have to do that with HOTAS controls in this game anyway. My rig is a Next Level Racing Flight Simulator so I cant imagine its too heavy, plus the amp is set to 25 because anything more and it sounds like a car with a catastrophic rod knock. If this really is the experience, then 1 Buttkicker Gamer Plus for sale, used for 1 hour.
A.F. Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 You should definitely use the “SimHaptic” and “DCReality” apps. Not HaptiConnect. In my experience, the Buttkicker with these two apps is the next step in immersion. For me there is no delay, all actions in the airplane are passed on to the buttkicker. Give the Buttkicker another chance 2 1
Panzerlang Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 (edited) I had a lot of fun with the BK but it was crude. And it blew the stock amp eventually. I now have two LFEs running from a 700w amp with SimHaptic and it's a superb setup. More context...the BK was like trying to race a Lada around Silverstone, the LFEs are like trying to race a Ferrari on a go-cart track. Lol. My wife thinks I'll put the ceiling through if I'm not careful. Edited July 31, 2024 by Panzerlang
