Hollister56 Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Has anyone done a F-14B ACLS recently and have the localizer needle off to the right during the approach. I do , and It lands on the centerline with the needle off to the right. The F-18 ACLS localizer is centered when I fly that jet. I believe all the switches are in the correct position and I've tried switching them, but the localizer needle is to the right. I set the course to the final bearing given from carrier air traffic control. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Ed
JupiterJoe Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) You've made the datalink to the wrong carrier? Easily done amongst a big taskforce. From around 3/4 mile you should lineup visually. ACLS probably has some corrections built in for that. Now the question what have you set on control panel? https://heatblur.se/F-14Manual/cockpit.html#displays-control-panel You can select either ACL or ILS for the HUD and VDI to display. Edit: *There are two separate antennas for ICLS AN/SPN-41 - one for azimuth, centerline, below the ramp on the stern and the other for elevation, elevated on the island, where there's also AN/SPN-46 ACLS antenna located.
