Chrispazz Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 (edited) Hello, I am using DCS on my gaming PC with QUEST 3 and VDXR. Playing with Campaign Cerberous North I noticed a limit in FPS (mission 10 part 2). I started trying to check FPS without VR and noticed that I can't get over about 30 FPS in NO VR. My PC: Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600KF 3.70 GHz Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.8 GB usable) NVIDIA 4070 TI Super Performances in real time: Where is my problem? Why I can't be able to rise FPS Value? I have same limits in VR.... Thank you Chris Edited August 6, 2024 by Chrispazz
RealDCSpilot Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Resolution per eye might be set to high. You can try to enable DLSS and check the real numbers in the logfile at a line that contains: DX11BACKEND (18368): DLSS successfully initialized, (resolution)x(resolution) -> (resolution)x(resolution). Another thing could be the way how you connect your mobile headset with your PC. Virtual Desktop is a very efficient OpenXR streaming solution. I would advise to check that first and make sure you are running everything in the recommended configuration (PC-> router over cable | headset over Wifi5/6 -> router). i9 13900K @5.5GHz, Z790 Gigabyte Aorus Master, RTX4090 Waterforce, 64 GB DDR5 @5600, PSVR2, Pico 4 Ultra, HOTAS & Rudder: all Virpil with Rhino FFB base made by VPforce, DCS: all modules
Hiob Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 (edited) When your limit is 30 fps sharp, you have most likely enabled V-sync and can't get 60 fps. Your bottleneck depends on your gfx-settings and exact scene in game. You can easily get to the lmits of your GPU with high settings - and most of the time in 2D, single player gameplay the GPU is the bottleneck. HOWEVER. You're CPU isn't the beefiest one and with reasonable gfx settings it can become a bottleneck in certain conditions. Edit: to identify the current bottleneck in any given situation in DCS it is better to use the ingame frametime graph than the windows stuff. Chrispazz Posted August 6, 2024 Author Posted August 6, 2024 (edited) It is not 30 FPS.....it flows between 28-32 I just checked again: VSYNC off in NVidia CP and in game. I set LOW graph profile and I get about 38FPS.....CPU about 21% and GPU about 10%.... Getting mad with this... Edited August 6, 2024 by Chrispazz

Are you running MT or ST? Do you have other games that run better? 10% GPU usage points towards a severe (and unusual) CPU bottleneck. Something is blocking your CPU-cycles Edited August 6, 2024 by Hiob "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

How a single mission campaign can limit PC performances without using full CPU/GPU?

How a single mission campaign can limit PC performances without using full CPU/GPU? If it is only this mission, maybe there is rogue script that is slowing everything to a crouch. Chrispazz Posted August 6, 2024 Author Posted August 6, 2024 DISCOVERED: tacview was limiting. Disabling Tacview in DCS let my PC go to 80 FPS (limited byt settings) without any problem. I think that specific mission has a lot of variables and objects causing Tacview to be bottleneck for everything.... Thank you Chris
Hiob Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 And yet again, one of the usual suspects. Checking all the export scripts (Tacview, WinWing, and so on) should really be on the top of my head for troubleshooting by now......
