whitav8 Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I am seeing with v68/v69, Nvidia 556.12, wifi6e + Virtual Desktop (Godlike-3080ti at 72Hz - no SSW), and DCS 2.9.6.58056, black missing frames with Quest3 at the rate of maybe 2 or 3 per 10 seconds. I don't know whether it is several black/missing frames or just one but I imagine since I notice it, that it must be several. My frame rate probably is dropping less than 72FPS at times. I don't see this issue with the same settings using MSFS2020 even though my FPS = 46 to 52 (down from 72 with DCS) PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)
Maddaawg Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 What codec are you using and is your PC the 9700? I use godlike with the 3080ti and i9-10900k and the AV1 codec. I also use process lasso and a cpu program that disables core parking Troubleshooting advice is to use lower setting and see if it goes away and use AV1. whitav8 Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Maddaawg, Thanks for the help! Yes I am still on a 9700 at 4.8Ghz (all 8 cores). I am just using the H.264+ at maybe 300Mbps. I will try AV1. Not only do I not see the black/missing frames on MSFS2020 but I do not remember this issue one or two months ago with whatever then was the latest version of DCS. Thanks PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)
Maddaawg Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 I was having issues with H264+ and switched to AV1. All these systems get update which leave our older processors behind. Jive Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 When you say v68/v69 are you on the PTC or are you saying you've tried both? Someone on the VD discord had a kind of similar thing and it fixed when he disabled the allow remote connection option on the VD Streamer PC app, might be worth a try.
whitav8 Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Jive, yes I'm on PTC in order to get v69. The disabling of "allow remote connection" did not help but changing to HEVC 10bit (3000 series can't use AV1??) did eliminate the black/missing frames - however, there are side effects in smoothness to that codec. Thanks - I guess that says that using H.264+ has some problems with DCS PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)

Jive Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I use a 3080ti with VDXR h264+ too, also thought AV1 was a 40 series thing Is the VD performance overlay giving any clues? Any of the different latency indicators spiking when you lose frames?

I can select AVI in VD with my 3080ti but the encoding defaults to HEVC when checking the overlay.

whitav8 Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 I don't see any indication from the VD overlay - I imagine that the missing frame(s) is 1 or 2 out of 72 - but my eyes notice it! PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)

I wish I could help more. I'd recommend trying on the VD discord, they're active and helpful
