This sim is too complicated to fly it with keyboard mate... Unfortunately... And nova days this is an expensive hobby... sorry, I couldn't fly it with keyboard and if Bobbero says no way, means no way... (Bobbero flew Su25T with keyboard and flew it well).

Oh you :P

I flew and still fly on keyboard in FC. Really good device to fly, it needs only a bit patience to obtain how to fly correctly. When it's done, probably you will be happy. (in LO)

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Hey guys,

Are any of you flying with keyboard? I don't have a HOTAS or even a joystick and really can't afford one for the prices they are asking. Does anyone know how you are supposed to use trim when flying with keyboard? As far as I can see, trim just keeps the joystick, rudder, etc. in place when you release them. So I guess on a stick, you would get the aircraft going where you want, hit the trim button once, then release the stick, rudders, etc. Anyone know how to do this with keyboard? And if you only hit trim after getting the craft where you want it to go, aren't you fighting the FCS? Im really not understanding the FCS on here. This craft is really hard to fly. Sometimes it just goes crazy and no matter whether I keep the FCS on, go to director mode, or just cut the whole thing, I end up crashing into the ground. It just wants to wobble and porpoise everywhere.

I played with the keyboard for 1 month and managed to get through the GOW phase 1 with only 4 deaths. The secret is to make sure you take everything slow---dont manouver the KA-50 too much or you wont be able to recover. Small inputs. Also practice a lot. Load any of the training missing and take control and just fly around .. eventually you will get used to it.

For trimming - when you get into position you want to hold - press the Trim button - done.

Using a keyboard wasn't all that bad. I started off with just keyboard. Bought X52 then TrackIR4... much much better obviously...

well, with a keyboard, the answer is:

Very carefully

however, I personally use a real joystick at home and a gamepad on the road, and it makes a big difference compared to mouse and keyboard...

You can fly BS with a keyboard as well as you can fly MS Flight Simulator with a gamepad. I've done the latter and believe me it isn't pretty.

Well, one big problem I've found with the keyboard is that its too sensitive. You can't land because you can't get the collective to lower you under about 4m/s. So you crash. And there seems to be some bugs with the AP. I've seen it turn off on me a few times now. Heli's bucking every which way, can't figure it out, then I see the AP has gone off, and for some reason ALT HOLD is on. Maddening.

That's not a bug. Try using the search function. There have been dozens of posts regarding this issue.

In short, the AP shuts off automatically under circumstances in which it might otherwise fly the aircraft into the ground. Engaging autohover below 4m r-alt, and extremely erratic flying are two scenarios in which the AP might shut off. If you want more detail, do a search on the topic.
