Falton Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 In the F16C Lesson 13 - Air to Air TWS and TNDL Use; I'm trying to listen to the narrator for the training but I'm being bombarded with BRA callouts from my two wingmen. I've attached a track replay which shows this happening, (Although upon replay the first two A120's go dumb which didn't actually happen during gameplay). I want to keep the callouts but its really difficult when it's one after the other continually. The wingmen also do not listen to any commands during this repetitive callout (bug?) AI Radio Speech is on (Though even if it's off there is no difference). I have to mute the helmet audio which mutes the narrator for the training and other AWACS callouts too. Any ideas? Northstar98 Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 Long standing issue with the frankly lacklustre AI communications. Unfortunately your current options are: Make the mission such that they call nothing out. Set the AI to only callout certain categories of targets (though depending on where they are this might not help). Put up with the constant calling out of targets I swear there used to be a setting that would exclude AI communications not intended for the player, but I can't seem to find it - though even then that might not solve the problem. 1 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas. System: GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX, AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5200 32 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070S FE, Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB (DCS dedicated) & 2 TB NVMe SSDs, Corsair RM850X 850 W, NZXT H7 Flow, MSI G274CV. Falton Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 (edited) Ah yeah, I thought so. I've managed to find a bit of LUA script to mute the AI calls entirely though I still hear the effects of the radio but its much less annoyance than the same voice over and over again. Using OVGME to toggle on and off for when I want to hear the callouts. Edited September 7, 2024 by Falton 2
theOtherMikeB Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Not sure if you can point me in the right direction as this thread has some age on it. I'm having the same issue. While I'm "glad" to know this is a known AI wingman issue...but could you point me to the resource you used to lock off the constant contact calls? Or how to only call out certain categories? (I couldn't even break in on the contact calls to have him rejoin they were so relentless). Eventually I gave up trying and just turned the radio down. I've searched the forums and couldn't find anything. Here's a screenshot of VoiceAttack log showing 1/4 of the calls the wingman had made as I RTB'd. Thanks in advance.
dmatsch Posted January 8 Posted January 8 this bug is waaaay older than 2024. ED is "working on it". 1

Bit of a late reply, but using OVGME; create config > config root folder = DCS Standalone root > config mods folder = downloaded mods > import mods if needed. Then select 'SilenceWingmen' (You'll have to create the folder to put the attached file in) then select in OVGME enable/ toggle and it'll overwrite the file with the one attached. To disable and restore original just toggle/disable again. The attached file has the callouts with 'nil' which I believe effectively mutes the callouts, without having to turn down the headset volume (which for me and the A10 gets rid of the AIM 9x tone etc). common_events.lua Edited April 14 by Falton Weird format issue
